We took our family of four (two teenage boys 18 & 16) to Seward to fish. We booked an all day trip through Alaskan Fishing Adventures and went out with Brandon (captain), and Ethan (deckhand). Both of them worked their tails off to put us on fish and we had an amazing time. We landed halibut, lingcod, yellow eye rockfish, black rockfish and a couple of others that I couldn’t name. Book with confidence…these guys know what they’re doing!

My husband and I recently went on a full day, multi-species fishing trip with Alaskan Fishing Adventures in Homer. We had a disappointing experience with the office staff and the fishing.

We booked our fishing trip more than a year in advance, based on our friend's positive experiences with the company. He had fished with them several times and had always caught a lot of fish.

The morning before the trip, we called to confirm the meet-up time and location. Lorie said she would email us the details. We waited several hours for the email to come and it didn't. We called back around 4 pm to ask about it. Lorie was very short with us and behaved as though it was our fault that we didn't get the email. She gave my husband the details over the phone. She did forward the email to us and it showed that she had sent it to the wrong person.

Our captain was Joe. He was very knowledgeable and put us on the fish right away. We caught our limit of halibut, which was two each, quickly. Then, we moved on to cod fishing. We were disappointed that Captain Joe limited us to 5 cod each, despite there being no regulation limit on cod. A companion on the boat had fished with a different captain from the same company the day before and had been allowed to catch 20 cod. I caught my limit of 5 cod and had to sit and wait for hours while others caught theirs. We returned to the dock at about 3:30 pm, which seemed early for a full-day fishing trip.

Our fishing trip with Alaskan Fishing Adventures was just okay. The interaction with Lorie was unpleasant, the fishing was limited, and the trip was expensive for what we got.

Our whole trip was amazing. The staff at the lodge was excellent and very attentive to our needs. They went out of their way to provide exceptional service, including filleting fish for us at 11pm after we caught our limit off their dock after dinner. The food was also top notch. The fishing was also great and we caught our limit on both rivers and in Homer.

We did a private 6 person full day fishing charter our of Seward for multi species. Captain Zack & Deckhand Anthony were great. It did feel like we lost a couple of fish due to the deckhands inexperience as he was learning. I know it happens but would have loved to get the salmon in the boat. Zach had a ton of experience and put us on the fish. The boat was well equipped. For my mom who was on the trip with us, she didn't quite enjoy the bathroom on the boat but it is a very stereotypical boat head, so just be prepared. You can bring your own cooler of food & drinks, it was nice for the group to enjoy a couple of beers after our day of fishing. We spent 2.5 hours getting out the fish & 2.5 hours getting back in so it made it feel like we didn't get to fish as long but you have to do what you need to do to get to where the fish are. The only thing that was a little frustrating was when I was calling around to different fishing charters to book, I was told the trip went until 6:30pm but in reality it was only until 4pm. So a little more communication from the captain would have been nice from the beginning letting us know how far we would be driving, about how long we will fish, what we are trying to catch in each location, etc. would have been nice! Overall it was a great experience. When we got back the crew fileted out the fish and separated per couple, took pictures of the fish all hung up, and advised on how to get it all processed at J Dock processing. Would love to go back and book a multi day trip!
