We recently spent 3 days at Wilderness Place Lodge. It was an experience of a lifetime. The entire staff was amazingly accommodating and friendly. The lodge and cabins were clean, welcoming and comfortable. We had special dietary restrictions that were accommodated with care. The fishing and accompanying excursions were truly amazing. |Special shout out to our guide Erik, Chef Dave, Mary and Carol- ya'll made it a first-class experience. Can't wait to come back!!!!!!

What an amazing adventure!! |Our family of 6 adults recently spent 4 days at WPL- first time guests and what a 5-Star experience of a lifetime! The hospitality, service, accommodations, and fishing were second to none. ||Our whole group was new to fly fishing, and we couldn't have asked for more knowledgeable and accommodating guides- (shout-out to Kyler, Noah and Ryan for their patience and teaching skills) to help us learn the basics of fishing with a fly rod.||The staff, particularly, Carol, Caitlyn, and Mary were so warm and welcoming! We enjoyed all of their company and conversation- mornings over coffee, and later in the afternoon over a drink at the bar. |Chef Dave and his kitchen staff created magic with their culinary skills for each meal. Absolute delicious-ness! Something we all looked forward to after a day out catching fish.||Highlights to note:|I caught my first fish ever with a fly rod on our first day out! (The fly fishing lure is now a souvenir in my hat- thank you, Ryan). Having never really fished at all, I was nervous about a 4-day stay at a fishing lodge... but I can honestly say I am so happy and thankful for this trip- I really learned to love the art and creativeness I found in fly fishing, and can see myself enjoying more of this sport in the future. |Seeing so many bald eagles at Pike Lakes! OMG. This was so cool. |A moose and her calf right outside the main lodge window, running through the camp|Seeing a seal on a wildlife sight-seeing afternoon with guide Noah. ||Enjoyed every minute. We would highly recommend Wilderness Place Lodge for a truly authentic and memorable Alaskan experience, and hope to return for a future visit again soon!

A great find. ||A college friend and I met up to do some fishing. We chose Wilderness Place Lodge because of the reputation, accessibility even though it was quite remote, and clear communication with the owners as we planned our trip. We were not disappointed. It was exceptional. ||Everything was very well coordinated, from the moment the float plane service picked us up at our hotel to the moment they dropped us off at the airport 6 days later. There was never a moment when we didn't feel well cared for.||We met our guides each evening to make a plan for the next day. You can have breakfast and lunch in the lodge or eat while out on the river. We chose the latter. ||The ratio was amazing... one guide for just us two fishermen. Our guide was very very knowledgable. He knew the river well, could always find a good spot, and put us on the fish every day. He also made safety a priority which we appreciated.||We will definitely go back again. I already miss the delicious group dinners in the lodge where we met super interesting people, shared stories from our day, and dined some great food.

Fishing: A guide will be assigned to you on arrival. Tell your guide what style of fishing and what schedule you want each day and they will accommodate. The guides are personable and knowledgeable of the area. You will catch fish and probably a lot of them. ||Accommodations: Rooms are comfortable, cozy, private, and what you would expect of an upscale fishing lodge. ||Food: Breakfast, lunch, and supper are all served at scheduled times daily in the lodge and the food is rediculously good. You will not be disappointed. The chef on staff really knows the science of class and flavor. Meals in the main lodge are a group setting and you can get to know the other people staying there. Your guide will ask you if you want to take food with you on your fishing trips…..Tip: take a break from fishing to go to the scheduled mealtimes at the lodge. ||Complaints: I should have booked more of my stay in Alaska at this place. ||Tip: Do not underestimate the mosquitoes in Alaska in the summer. They will be anywhere you decide to go.

My husband and I traveled to Wilderness Place Lodge in June. I encourage everyone to book this trip! We went for the fishing, but I assure you there is SO much more. From the moment you land at the sandbar on the river, you will feel like family. ||Our main goal was fishing. It was on my husband’s bucket list to catch an arctic grayling on a fly rod, which he was able to do several times this trip. I had never fly fished before, but was game to learn, and was just happy to be visiting Alaska. Our guide, Braeden, assured me that I would have no trouble and was able to teach me the basics in short order. The fishing was phenomenal each and every day, from the river to the pike lakes. ||The food was nothing short of amazing, Chef Dave and the team put out some of the most delicious food for each and every meal we had. They are very accommodating to food preferences and allergies, just let them know prior to your stay. My husband is not a foodie like me, but tried everything they made and loved all of it! I guarantee that you won’t leave the table hungry. Conversations with staff and fellow guests were our favorite way to end each day. ||Our cabin was very clean, comfortable and provided all the creature comforts of home. They thought of everything from bug spray and citronella to extra coffee pods for the Keurig. Carol and the crew were always available if we needed anything extra. The lodge was always open for snacks or sweets if needed. Several hours were enjoyed sitting by the river, reading and enjoying nature. ||We left Wilderness Place Lodge with new friends and experiences. ||Mary, Caitlin, Carol, Chef Dave and your crew, and Braeden - thank you for making our first trip to Alaska so unforgettable. You have us hooked and we plan to be back!

This was my first trip to Alaska and it was awesome. The fishing was great, the food was amazing, the weather cooperated, and the entire staff were excellent. Our guide, Kyler, was super. We fished in different places each day and caught so many fish we couldn't keep count. The scenery was breathtaking. We saw moose, bears and eagles. Chef Dave gave us a private cooking lesson. The cuisine was delicious. Everyone was friendly, personable and attentive. Would highly recommend, from customizing the trip to keeping us informed and cared for throughout.

Our stay at Wilderness Place Lodge was beyond all we could have imagined. Immediately greated by beauty and kindness, which continued the entire stay. We were a family of 6 adults.||Lodge staff/ front end staff, including Carol, Mary, Caitlin, Chef Dave and the amazing kitchen crew were incredible. There were so many wonderful chats about fish, flowers, birds and life. All so genuine and kind, all top notch folks.||Guides, Noah, Ryan and Kyle were exceptional, extremely knowledgeable, fun, patient and wonderful human beings. The fishing was great, many skills were learned Loads of fish were caught!||I often chose not to fish, the rest fished most of the time. I learned the basics of fly fishing and I did some spinner fishing, but mostly I chose instead to observe and photograph all the things! My experience was magical, the water, birds, plants, rocks, fish and animals and the quiet. I usually went with the rest of the family on the trips and wondered a bit, other times hung on the lodge property, wandered, read our chatted with guests and staff. A couple of times when myself or my SIL didn't fish, one of our guides took us for little beauty seeing adventures in the boat! We saw Moose, eagles, ducks, river otters, and a seal!||The food was amazing! Every bit of it! I encourage you to be adventurous in trying the food, if you tend to be picky, so good. But do be sure to fill out the provided form if you have allergies, sensitivities or strong dislikes. The kitchen crew does their best to accommodate. ||We most definitely would recommend Wilderness Place Lodge for an incredible experience! Every moment was perfect and exactly what we needed and hoped for! We would absolutely return in a heartbeat. I so loved this place!

Relax, unwind and be prepared to be catered too. Great fishing, great food in a stunning location one hour from Anchorage. They put the all in all inclusive and what a side excursion to the wilderness outpost a trappers cabin from a by gone time and a way to experience old time original Alaska for sure ten stars!!!!
