Sannauk is an excellent local small forest preserve with many assets. There are basically two levels of the park.

The upper level has picnic areas and rentable shelters that need reservations, as well as the playground areas and toilets. There is great sledding in the winter, and parking can be problematic when it is crowded. A warming house with a view of the hill is a nice addition.

The lower level has access to the Somonauk Creek, which is a tributary to the Fox River. Fishing is available along the creek. Some parking areas in the lower area have picnic tables.

There is also a mile or so connecting path to the Somonauk Library

First week of April wild flower walk! Wild flowers will be peak in a week. Plenty of parking. Plenty of walking paths. Easy access fishing.

Beautiful Forest Preserve! Wild flowers growing on the paths everywhere. Areas with crystal clear swamp like water, where the frogs are plentiful. Makes a great walking day!

Very run down. We had shelter #4 and none of the windows opened and the playground consisted of a broken slide and 1 swing. Grounds were kept clean on a good note.
