There are two buildings, and one of them is for the clothing section.
They always have the latest trends and high-quality brands, not just the usual ones.
Plus, they offer a great variety of sizes and often have clearance sales with amazing discounts. I found a Marmot jacket and a Cotopaxi vest, two of my favorite brands, at an incredible discount during their last sale! The staff is super friendly and always ready to help.

I purchased a firearm and archery gear from Nick. The process was quick and simple. I appreciated the knowledge and experience the staff was forward with. I found the archery range to be incredibly fun and maintained. Having been into many bigger outdoor stores I was impressed with the inventory available here. I will be checking Jax first in the future when I need something. They’re likely to have it.

JAX has an incredible selection and very helpful customer service. I've bought disc golf equipment, baselayers, and fishing gear here, and they have many things that I cannot find at other outdoor stores (including places 10x their size).

Like others have mentioned they have a lot of high-quality brands. I got a pendleton sweater here, and when I realized it had a small hole in it, they very quickly got me a replacement with no hassle.

This is a place I keep going to whenever I need anything related to the outdoors.

Had a D string put on my bow. It took about 5 minutes, and I was only charged $5.00. Excellent service and very knowledgeable people. This is the place to go for all your outdoor needs.

ANYTHING you need will be here in one of the two buildings. Very nice and friendly staff that seemed to be put to work and busy also. Was looking for disc golf frisbees and was surprised to see a very wide array. Worker didn’t know anything about disc golfing but found a way to help me as a beginner disc golfer. Saw so many great interactions between customers and all of the workers will definitely be back.

This store is hidden treasure. I have lived in Ames for more than 10 years and it was first time to step into the store after knowing they sponsored the climbing competition at ISU. Found two fabulous climbing shoes for my 7 years old and my 4 years old. The person who helped me was very knowledgeable and very patient. The price is very competitive. I would highly recommend this store to everyone in town. Great selection and great service!!!!!! We need to support this fabulous local store. Told my husband that I am going to buy stuff from here from now on for my outdoor and climbing needs!!!!
