Great shop, great selection, great fun to be had. My whole family of 4 ages 4-40 loved this shop. The staff was friendly to my kids and even gave my son a free Pokemon poster. If we lived closer I would be a frequent weekly customer.

Wow I will start with saying that somebody else left a review that they didn't think they were very female friendly. They must have had an off day because I asked a couple of questions and I was not treated any differently than a male customer. They were actually very helpful. This place is definitely overwhelming when you walk in because there's so much stuff. You're not sure where to start. But they have a little something for everyone. I am not a collector of Star Wars or Warhammer or any of that kind of stuff but I do like NASCAR diecast and they did have some old cars that I purchased.

I will say that the Ankeny location which is still setting up as it is new had more of the high-end Die Cast I wanted. They also had Guitar Hero guitars which I did not see at the Des Moines location. I maybe just missed them. I would say definitely check this place out. If you don't see what you want at one of the locations go to a different one.

Ordered a WWE figure for Christmas that Amazon wasn’t going to be able to get to me before Christmas. Jay’s got it to me in 4 days with plenty of time to spare. About 30 min after I placed my order, customer service reached out to me to clarify details of my order to ensure I received the correct figure. It was so nice to talk to a real person and I appreciate so much the attention to detail and speed in taking care of my order. Such a great experience and will be ordering from them from now on!

I love the people that go here but Jay, the owner, is very unlikeable. I wish it was different but I love the community too much to leave. Unfortunately, he only cares about the community if it brings him financial gain. I can't wait for someone to take over gaming in the Des Moines area that is not Jay's.

Worth a visit every month! Always have fun hobbies, games, collectibles, music, movies, etc. We typically visit the south location, but love the Merle Hay store for football cards.

Seems to be fair pricing, although I am as far from an expert as you can get. Items for all ages! We like taking our nephews, have since they were 4 or 5 years old.

Even if I don't find something I can't live without, it's a fun shopping experience. Each staff member we have dealt with is kind and knowledgeable.

Bonus points for being a local business! Our favorite type to support!

The best store for all things collected! This place loves to give back to the community, holding several fundraisers a year for great causes, including providing free comics to various schools across Des Moines! Looking for something you think no one has ever heard of? If they don’t have it, they’ll get it. Wonderful staff full of knowledge about your collection(s) that you didn’t know you needed to know. The buy-back center provides a fair value for your most-prized possessions. If you disagree, no big deal! It probably means you’d rather hang on to it anyway, rather than sell it away! lol If you’re in town for a weekend, this place is worth a visit (as is Monsterama Arcade)!

I've never had a bad experience at any of the Jay's locations. Employees are always kind and courteous, and quick to help. The store credit program for trade-ins is very reasonable. They typically offer more credit on items than GameStop.
