Quiet. Peaceful. Passed maybe 10 people and 2 dogs. I didn't see any restrooms. I saw some lures left behind by some fishers near the bench down by the lake. It looks like the wildflowers are starting to bloom. I had to look it up, but there's a sonic buoy in the middle of the lake that hinders algae blooms. Depending on which paths you take, it's a good 1-1.5 mile hike and not too strenuous. Warm in the sun and cool in the shade. I went early morning but I wonder what the conditions would be like in the late afternoon/evening before sunset.

We came here in early April to see the California lilac bloom. We arrived around 4ish on Sunday and there was a long line waiting to get in the parking lot. We drove around and all the street parking spaces were filled so we had to drive even further across the street. Despite the limited parking, the park itself looks very nice with a lake and accessible walking trails. I would recommend visiting in the morning or during the weekdays to avoid the crowd.

Cool place to go spend the morning fishing with my son. Free parking and entry. Plenty of trails for walking the dog and hiking. Fishing license required.

Beautiful super quiet little spot. Trail wide and open enough to collect your dogs to your side when passing other dogs.

Really enjoyed the trails around the lake. I personally would consider them easy for older and younger ones. Loved the flowers along the trail. Dog friendly. I didn't see any restrooms.

The easy hiking trail at South Lake Park is perfect for all skill levels. With our trusty companion, Dash, by our side, we meandered through lush greenery, enjoying the fresh air and scenic views. The trail is well-maintained, making it accessible even for beginners.

After a refreshing rain shower, the sky transformed into a canvas of beautiful clouds. Their billowy shapes danced above us, casting playful shadows on the path. And then, there they were—the purple ceanothus flowers—a burst of color against the verdant backdrop. Their delicate blooms seemed to celebrate the rain, and we couldn’t help but pause to admire their elegance.

The centerpiece of South Lake Park is, of course, the tranquil lake. Its glassy surface mirrored the surrounding trees, creating a soothing ambiance. As we strolled along the shore, the ripples seemed to carry away our worries. This was more than a hike; it was a therapeutic escape from our busy lives.

South Lake Park’s accessibility is a major plus. Situated next to Calstate San Marco’s campus, it’s a quick escape for students, locals, and anyone seeking solace. No long drives or complicated directions—just a peaceful oasis waiting to be explored.

Nice short dirt trail around lake, pretty crowded when we went. Some nice blooms but scattered.

Small parking lot. A couple uphill's on the trail...not totally stroller friendly but doable.
