This tour was so great! We got to do both things in our short time here. It was a very brisk walk to make sure we got to the glacier and back before the bus came back for us, but so glad we got to see it! The whale watch was so much fun and did not disappoint as the "guarantee" is appropriate. We saw some whales sleeping and some great fin shots! The views were incredible too and there weren't too many people on the boat, didn't feel crowded at all. The staff were wonderful gave us a snack and a brief lesson about humpbacks!

We had an amazing experience with Alaska Tales! Our family of 7 (two grandparents, two parents, a teen, and two kids ages 10 and 7) took the Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching tour, and it exceeded our expectations. Tom, our bus driver, was not only knowledgeable but also friendly and funny, which made the ride to the glacier so enjoyable. After exploring the glacier, Tom took us to our whale watching boat, where we were greeted by Captain Larry and naturalists Nate and Sophie. They were all fantastic—super friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and great with the kids. Everyone in our group absolutely loved the excursion! Our cruise ship arrived late, but Alaska Tales was quick to adjust our tour time so we didn’t miss a thing. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Juneau!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! When we got off the ship, we took the shuttle into town and asked about our excursion at the little stands. We had a little bit of time, so we shopped a little bit and met Whale Tales under the green tent then we were on our way! Our bus driver, Benjamin, was so knowledgeable and passionate about Alaska. His love for wildlife and nature was contagious. He was so kind and our ride was very pleasant.

The glacier was beautiful! We were able to take pictures in a few spots and even walked along the beach. There is an area you can get closer, however there just wasn’t enough time.

The whale portion was AMAZING! Justin, Taylor, and Nate were so passionate and their love for whales was very obvious. We saw so many whales and even a lonely sea lion! The crew was incredibly friendly and were even willing to try to help identify the whales we saw.

Juneau was one of our favorite stops! I would 1,000% recommend Whale Tales and would definitely do it again!

We saw SO many whales. Sea lions and eagles also. There were many babies in the whale pod. The ship was almost full but was NOT too crowded; there was plenty of viewing area for everyone to have a great sightline. My 6YO got a little bored on the ride to the whales, but that was expected and we had activities for him. The views on the way were gorgeous, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about both the scenery and the wildlife.

Bring binoculars if you have them, as federal law doesn't allow boats to get super close. The whales actually swam toward us after we stopped so we didn't need them, but that kind of thing came be guaranteed.

My pictures don't really do it justice (was also wrangling the child). The rest of my party got better pictures than me.

I really didn't expect to see as many whales as we did!!

We had a great whale watching cruise. Unfortunately no bubble nets this time round. But we saw a lot of humpback whales. Charlie was great naturalist to have on board. Great job James, Sophie and Charlie. We enjoyed our trip.

Amazing tour!!!! Highly recommend !!! And easy non ship operated tour… 12 out of 10 we saw both killer whales and humpbacks .. the tour guide Charlie knew all the whales names and history for each one .. our guides were Larry Charlie and Steph all were great ..

This was thé best trip during my cruise in Alaska! I was hoping to see whales and I did! We saw 20 orca’s (!) and also 13 whales. They all were giving us a wonderful show.
And the crew: Benjamin as the driver getting us back and forth, captain Larry and Kristen and Monica: amazing! I would recommend this to everyone.
