Sunflowers are not guaranteed as they are not planted every year. They are not there 2024 July.

Place is nice. Lake is peaceful. Worth a trip, but don't keep hopes high.

This spot features a charming pond with a boat ramp, but the real highlight is the sunflower field. There's a peak time each year to catch the sunflowers in full bloom, and this year it was on July 28. The sunflowers are somewhat hidden—they’re located on the other side of the lake from where the map initially directs you. To reach them, you'll need to drive down a gravel road, so it’s best to avoid washing your car beforehand. There’s a small parking lot, and from there, you can cross the street to enter the sunflower fields.

I was shocked to see a like in the middle of those hills. Too bad it looks like it is not maintained.

We went out to find the sunflower fields & weren't disappointed. The park has a beautiful lake, a couple boat ramps, hiking trails, & is a great place for photography especially when the sunflower fields are in bloom.

What a beautiful sunflower 🌻 field 💛
Really loved this place. We came here twice this season.
We clicked more beautiful pictures here and especially no entry fee 😄. Parking near the sunflower field. My daughters really enjoyed this place. Waiting for next season 🙂

First visit to this state recreation area. The lake is beautiful and the wild sunflowers (not giant sunflowers) were beginning to bloom, along with other wild flowers, which I enjoyed viewing. But the park roads are disintegrating and there isn't any outhouses or picnic tables on the east side of the lake. You will need to travel on at least 3 miles of gravel to get into the area. It seems the fishing is good, but the area around the lake needs some TLC.
