This was the best hotel experience I’ve had in the USA, there’s no way this should be just a 2-star hotel! The team does an incredible job managing everything, even in such a remote location. They are responsive 24/7, helped us reschedule shuttles and activities with ease, and provided smooth airport pickups in comfortable shuttles. We stayed in a first-row igloo with an amazing view, and every activity, from dog sledding to reindeer encounters and snow machine experience were well-organized and so much fun. The staff is knowledgeable and professional, and their aurora alert system is incredibly accurate, going off five minutes before the northern lights appear. The portrait session was also a great experience, with excellent communication and multiple options. The food at both Latitude 65 and the pub was fantastic. My husband and I loved our three-night stay, seeing the northern lights for the first time and enjoying every moment. This place offers outstanding service and value, highly recommend!

This place was AMAZING! The staff, the accommodations, the restaurant, the food, the excursions and the guides that help you along the way - I can't say enough! A few standouts for us - Madison at the front desk - she was absolutely wonderful and so friendly and helpful and she made sure we didn't miss a minute of the Northern Lights action! She even came and personally knocked on our door to make sure our alarm was working! Way above and beyond service. She made sure we got booked with the Aurora photographer during our stay even though they were extremely busy and booked up. Rose - She was SO NICE and made our snow coach tour so inviting and she was very friendly and accommodating. Dom - our server at the restaurant was extremely friendly and you can tell he knows how to do his job extremely well. He made our dinner that much better with his upbeat attitude. The food was also absolutely amazing! I didn't get the chance to write down every single person's name that we interacted with, but absolutely EVERY SINGLE PERSON was totally professional, friendly, engaging and seemed to be genuinely happy and excited to be there and based on everything I experienced while staying there, I can see why! Borealis Basecamp was truly a once in a lifetime experience!

I spent two nights in an igloo at the base camp at the end of March 2025. The igloo was spacious and nicely furnished. It was toasty warm while the outside temperatures hovered around zero degrees at night. The igloo was equipped with a device that sounded like a doorbell that was used to awaken us at night when the aurora was out. The weather forecast wasn’t favorable on the nights we were to be there but the skies cleared both nights and we had amazing views of aurora. The package we purchased included photo shoots of us with the aurora in the background. One of the photographers was kind enough to show me how to properly set my iPhone to capture beautiful images. Our package also included a walk with the reindeer and dog sledding which we very much enjoyed. The food at the restaurant was pricey but very tasty. On our way back into Fairbanks at the end of our stay, we spotted a moose and the driver stopped the van and allowed us to take some photographs (safely from the inside of the van). The entire experience was enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend it.

We had an awesome time at Borealis Basecamp! We booked the two night, three day package in one of the cubes. The cubes are beautiful with even better views! We did the dog sledding and snow machine tours and had a blast on both, the guides were so friendly and made sure everyone had a great time. The aurora alerts in the room were very convenient, we didn’t have to worry about dozing off while waiting for the lights to come out and you could see them perfectly without having to go out in the cold. The food was so good, lots of options at the included continental breakfast and the pub was great. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. There were lots of little personal touches like a gift bag when you check in with some goodies and also complimentary tea, hot chocolate, and coffee in the room. Shuttle was so convenient and right on time. Loved it here, would definitely recommend!

We were lucky to pick up a cancellation and get a 2-night stay at Borealis Basecamp in February, in Cube #602. It was a great experience, and the room was very comfortable. |We didn't have to make a choice between the cubes and the igloos, but we did get a look inside an igloo. I think I would pick the cube again if I returned - it's more spacious, has a closet and drawers to put your clothes away, the window glass is better to look through than the plexiglass on the igloos, and there are drapes for privacy/darkness (also to keep your neighbors from flooding the outside with light). You do want a cube in the front row (601-604), because the second row (500's) faces the walkway and the back of the 600's, though they're staggered. The igloos, on the other hand, are more unusual and you do have a nice deck to stand on to watch the lights, as well as more of an overhead view from inside.|Our package included a dogsled ride, a reindeer walk, and an hour in the private sauna, which filled our one full day there. We also had the camp photographer come by for a quick photo session when the lights were out the first night. The aurora alarm worked well, and the photographer also knocked on our door. Unfortunately it was cloudy the second night, so no aurora, but at least we caught up on our sleep!|The restaurant and pub were both good, pricey but that's to be expected given the remote location. Included breakfast was very good. They had a little happy hour before dinner with a charcuterie board, and there were s'mores kits in the office lobby (also some in our room, along with coffee, tea and cocoa mix). Check in and out was very well organized, and the shuttle to and from Fairbanks was great.|This is a perfect immersive way to experience Alaska, and the Northern Lights. The packing list info they sent was very helpful, and even though the temps were in the 0-15 F range, it was dry and calm so we were quite comfortable. I also borrowed one of their heavy duty parkas for our dogsled ride, they are available at the activity center when you check in.
