We didn't get much water in the fall, it was dry, But the rock formations are beautiful. A quick note: you can right beside the trail just before the lake starts.

Not a lot was flowing this time of year (Thanksgiving '24), but it is still an interesting place to go explore! You have to hike to get there so make sure you are up for it. It isn't a hard hike, but it may take 10-15 mins of walking on the trail to get there from the road.

Yes Kansas has waterfalls! This is an east 0.8 out and back hike. A 2 tiered waterfall beautiful waterfall! You have to drive through the tiny charming town of Cottonwood. Cobblestone street, updated old building fronts, and a courthouse that looks like an 1800's mansion. On the other end of the cobblestone street is a bridge line with old fashioned lamp post. So cute!

What a beautiful little spot off the well beaten path. This was one of the nicer and maintained little lakes in the area. Short little hike to where the falls are. Unfortunately, there hadn't been much rainfall when we went so the falls were not flowing....but the scenery was still nice.

Water was pretty low, but still a great nature walk! Be sure to follow the directions to get to the falls- when you turn onto the Lake Rd, keep a look at to your left for where the lake starts. You'll see a 'no vehicles sign' and the damn with an obvious walking past. You'll walk around/under/over a gate (see picture).

I had some trouble finding the trail to the falls. There is a long stretch of grass right before the lake which is what others were referring to as the "dam" and it is lined by sunflowers. The trail is down that patch and to the left. Not a long hike at all. I went in the early morning and it is absolutely beautiful at the lake. Camping is also allowed there which I didnt know. the falls were not very impressive as it hasnt rained enough over the years to really get a good flow going.

Perfect pit stop to get out and stretch your legs on a long drive. Easy walk. We saw some hawks circling above and a few turtles in the lake along the way. Water flow was great.
