Tarantula migration destination.
17 mi south of La junta is Vogel canyon. The stairs help navigate the fence and provide easy access if you want to see tarantulas
Recommend September to October & 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM for optimal viewing.

A long way from just about anywhere, and you have to get through some pretty seedy towns, but once you are there, it is beautiful and peaceful! Not very busy, and August - September is the migration of the the Tarantulas

The variety of scenery spread across the Timpas and Carrizo Units of Comanche National Grassland is nothing short of spectacular. I've camped in so many locations here and each seems like another world. This area has some of the darkest skies on the country and it's my favorite place to watch the stars. The silence and solitude is off the charts. Let's keep this paradise our little secret.

Beautiful country, I always make it a stop on my trips through Colorado. Peaceful and quiet, it's a wonderful escape from the city. Wide open spaces with few fences. You may have to stop on the road to let the cattle cross the street looking for greener pastures.

If I could give 0 stars I would, I guess the farmer who lives here wouldn't agree. I'm sure he's quite content out here but probably doesn't want us pitching tent in his cowfield....where this Google pin led us. Well, actually it led to his windmill that creaked every 10 seconds like some scene in a zombie show. Anywho. Unless you're this man's family or friend, I wouldn't come to this particular pin.

A beautiful image of a old west long gone, the abandoned schoolhouse sits on a hill decaying back into the earth. The smell of legal cannabis greenhouses stays in the air. Stay safe traveling

Try it in July. It's epic. Not sure what the whining is about. Real life, out west. Enjoy
