There are so many different artifacts to see, and there is so much history to read about here. One could easily spend hours here and still manage to overlook something that they'll find on their next visit. Kind of like a hidden picture puzzle. And that it's free to visit is astounding.

Museum is big, really interesting, and the little older lady running it who greets you is the sweetest angel. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Doesn’t take toooo long to finish the whole thing. My only recommendation would be for them to make a little area for tourists to buy things to help generate some revenue. I’m not sure how they stay afloat when it’s free, but I want them to stay open and do well… and that would help. I definitely would have bought something to support them. And in todays world, where no one carries cash, the little donation box didn’t get any love from me. Next time. Definitely go and check them out.

This was a bigger museum than I expected but small enough to keep my kids interested. We could get right up close to the exhibits which allowed us to see the details on the historical items. The displays were very well put together. It wasn’t just a random antique, but rather a story of how a process worked in history. For example, the corn processing was modeled including how it was kerneled and ground. It would be a great place to take a field trip for schools or homeschool families.

It was surprisingly interesting! Many historic pieces. We went for soap making which was quite informative and hope to go back for more demonstrations.

Make the Pittsburg KS museum a must-see! Very interesting items like the taxidermy of a 2 headed calf, and look for the works of art made from human hair! (bet you didn't know people back in the olden days made these out of hair! Or, maybe you did know 🙃)
