One of the only parks in the east bay with significant legal singletrack for MTB and EMTB riders. Tree Frog on the backside is one of the best flowie trails while Middle Trail on the front side is the best and worth sessioning.

I went today on Saturday April 20th 2024 and Sugar City is infested with ticks. The grass and weeds are taller than I am and not only did I brush of about 5-6, I had three on my calves when I got home (and I was wearing riding pants) and after throwing my riding gear in the laundry we found 5 more. I have never seen so many and recommend waiting to ride there for awhile till they cut back the grass and weeds. Was like I hit a tick bomb on the trail. There were other people with dogs having tick issues too.

The park should post something about this in my opinion as I have never seen anything like it. I've never had issues with ticks like this anywhere including at Crockett but recommend riding in seasons other than Spring after heavy rains.

It is so alive here! Stuffed with birds singing, flowers blooming, bugs pollinating, garter snakes sunning themselves. Parking was easy and I enjoyed the loop trail I took. Very shaded and pleasant, classic mixed oak woodland. I did a check and did not pick up any ticks, but seems like they could thrive here based on the thickness of the understory, so make sure to do a check!

Steep climbs, nice views at the top. Fun descent through the trees, could have been more flowy if the trails were less straight. Climb from the bottom is tough if you’re not in shape or don’t have an e-bike. No place to refuel so bring your water and snack.

This is a popular place to go mountain biking. While on the trail we saw plenty of happy cyclists riding down trails or around the crests of hills. You won't encounter too much elevation of you stay away from the valley trails, which means more time to enjoy the sunshine.

Other east Bay parks feature better views, but this is a nice local park with easy access and simple trails.

Great park with scenic views and fairly well maintained trails. (A few trails are getting some high grass). Facilities were available at the top of the hill along with a picnic area. Bring water and sunscreen. And make sure to do a tick check after your visit (a few of our group picked some up in the tall grass trails).

So beautiful the views are amazing. There are many hills so do come with water and hydrated. It’s far more beautiful to come after raining season when the hills are green but anytime it’s still nice. I’ve seen jack rabbits, coyotes and even turkeys on this trail. What a wonderful place.

I just rode this track on Sunday7/21/24 and it was great moderate temp at about 7:30am start got back in 2 hours. Elevation gain over 13 miles was about 1700ft. I’ve written Crockett many times and it never disappoints. After a decent climb to the picnic tables you’ll approach the first flume. At the bottom traverse over to “Tree Frog” with a steep climb empty out at the top and hit single track leading under trees descending down. Follow back out and climb out. At this point you can continue to gate at tip, fire road or pick up a single tracknthat takes you back to the picnic tables. Enjoy the ride.

Excellent hiking spot that is dog friendly with scenic views and trail options depending on the elevation you're ready for. Easy to find off highway 80 and adequate parking with no entrance fees. The large black cows along parts of the trail made it interesting.
