We loved this campground. We had spot #24, right on the river. Large, level, and very quiet at night. Nice firepit.
We're in a 38' class A w/ toad, back in spot, plenty of room.
We stayed 3 nights and went to the AK State fair one day.
Many were catching salmon from the day area.
$20 a night. Yes, the pit toilets smelled, but they weren't the worst.

Alot of complaining on this site. Host are VOLUNTEERS. If you dont like outdoor toilets perhaps you need to stay in a hotel. Toilet paper available and no accidents on the toilet lid is a big win for me in a campground. And no there are no chemicals provided to make it smell fresh as a daisy in those bathrooms, blame the campers for what they ate and deposited in there for the smell. If you are too good to walk around and pick up free firewood on the ground stay home or purchase it prior to your camping trip. If you want to blame the moose for charging at your small yapping unleashed dog then you DO NOT need to be camping. Or, I love this one, one lady complained because a moose and her calf were in their camping area. Most people would love to have that happen while camping in Alaska. What is wrong with some of you? Camping is NOT glamorous. "Lynn".... be glad the host assisted you to find your reserved space. It is not his job to check on you during your stay because you booked a secluded camping space. If you are scared of being out in nature stay home.. This is a self service campground. Some of you need to stay at home!!! With that being said it is beautiful here. Great views. Easy trails to walk. Kid and pet friendly. 3 night maximum stay. No dump station and no firewood for sale. Come prepared and quit being a bunch of Karens! And no I am not the host , I was a co host who had a full time job but assisted on days off when I could. It would take the staff of a 5 star hotel to make some of you happy!!!

Nice campground by the river. Nice camping spots. The one vault bathroom I used was awful. These types of toilets are bad enough but this one was nasty.
Come on people! Even if you aren't, you should pretend to be a civilized human being. Have a little courtesy and clean up your mess.
Camp host could maybe do a better job maintaining it too.
If you don't have to sit on a potty I recommend it. ?

I recently visited Eagle River Campground in Eagle River, Alaska, and was happy with just about everything I saw. Conveniently located just a short drive from Anchorage, the campground offers decently-maintained sites for tents, RVs, and trailers, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The facilities, including restrooms, potable water stations, and an RV dump station, and ADA-accessible options are available. The natural beauty of the area is breathtaking. The peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere, made my stay pleasant. My only minor complaint is the occasional noise from the nearby highway, but overall, Eagle River Campground is a perfect blend of convenience, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities, making it an ideal destination for anybody wanting to get away from town without having to make a long drive.

Our camp site was secluded, behind a gate, which at 1st we thought was weird or not correct. Had to find the camp host to verify which spot was ours, the main camp spots are 1st come/1st served and you pay at the kiosk. We booked ours for few days, reason why we were on other side of gate down the road. We had the entire area to ourselves, somewhat clean vault toilet. Moose at camp site. The host was horrible though. Never came out of his camper, never checked on us, especially since we weren't in the main area or offer wood for fire. I've never experienced such a bad host. And, the dump station doesn't work neither does any of the fresh water pumps

Pros: lots of paved level sites, location is convenient to anchorage, only $20 a night.

Cons: lots of trash in sites, bathrooms not maintained, food storage not working, safety concerns with nearby area and homeless population, no dumping or hookups.

Popular campsite near (15 min from) Anchorage! Nice riverside location, but we had to park our RV in overflow (no amenities).?

This is a nice place to camp but the bathrooms are horrible! For a state campground and a place that is used by many they need to have someone cleaning the bathrooms. Poor reflection on the state f Alaska!
