My friends and I went to EDscapade in San Jose for the first time on late 10/14, and did the hostage room. Our gamemaster, Amy, was so kind, helpful and understanding! She really made this experience unforgettable. She was eager to help us whenever we needed it. Between her (and her coworker, I apologize I didn’t get his name) they helped calm down one of my friends when she was overwhelmed and made sure they felt comfortable and safe in this environment. Highly recommend in every way!

I've done dozens of escape rooms and B.O.X. was one of the most poorly designed and dysfunctional escape rooms I've done. Experience started out weirdly since when you arrive, they don't have a lobby so you wait outside and ring a bell and have to wait for staff to come fetch you. The BOX room had a lot of broken tech (lights didn't turn on/off which lost our team 10min of time, a door that didn't obviously open/unlatch which also lost our team 10 more minutes), and a lot of janky requirements of doing things atypical of escape rooms (e.g. many puzzles required visual/audio verification by the game master), hidden things that were very challenging and unintuitive to find.... heard it was one of their oldest rooms, so perhaps their newer rooms run smoother.... but would not recommend BOX, especially to those seasoned in escape rooms... Very overpriced for the experience. The game master was nice, at least.

Not my favorite. Game master was great and enthusiastic but you have to have them involved in the puzzles which kills the experience. Most rooms ask you how much involvement you want but it’s not an option here. The puzzles don’t self open they are triggered by the GM. Maybe other rooms work this way but it’s never so apparent.

Also had to miss my first appointment due to being hospitalized. The owner Joey Tran had absolutely no consideration for this and made sure to charge me a 40$ reschedule fee. It’s policy, I get it but human decency man. ?

It's more like role playing, not an actual escape room. No challenging puzzles, just silly role playing nonsense. Not automated, the game master triggers everything when you role play. The room and props are old and have a low budget feel to them. Not maintained. Broken props and doors are not replaced. Wasted $100 here. Do not recommend.

This was a great experience and it was my first escape room. Our host Leo was the best host I’ve had for any experience!!! He made me and my group have a great time and we would love to come back because of him!

Great experience for the price point. Heather was a great game master who made the experience fun. We did the B.O.X room which was doable with 2 people. What's neat is that they have optional bonus challenges but we didn't have the time to do them.

I played The Hostage for the 2nd time with my friends and it was a lovely experience. Our host, Amy, did an excellent job of immersing us into the atmosphere and giving us a nudge whenever we needed help without ruining the creepiness of the experience.
