Update:

I had a very satisfactory phone conversation with a manager at Flying Flags this morning. She was very conciliatory with regard to our issues, and explained that land use permit issues were hampering the company’s ability to provide all the amenities they had planned. We look forward to the campground improvements that the management says are in the works.

Campers Beware!

Flying Flags Avila Beach has a great location, but if you are a car or tent camper, there is NO WATER source available for the 23 car camping sites.

When the ‘AI’ assistant was asked about this, IT responded with: You can get water at the restroom. I then emailed the manager with my concern, and there was no reply.

Considering that the restrooms/showers would be mostly used by the car and tent campers, rather than the self-contained full hook up RV sites, its puzzling that the restrooms are a steep uphill walk from the camper’s sites, but right next to the rv sites.

Added to this, there is NO PARKING at the restrooms closest to the campsites. So, if one were to use the bathroom sink to fill a water container or a wash basin, one would have to then carry it back to the campsites, a not inconsiderable distance.

The shower facilities are quite nice, but in each or the men’s and women’s restrooms there are just 2 showers. That’s a pretty poor ratio considering the over 50 tent campsites and dry RV sites with no water source or facilities.

This may be a great place for self contained RVs, but tent and car campers here are treated like third class citizens.

We had an amazing stay at Flying Flags Avila Beach! The resort was incredibly dog-friendly, which made our weekend so much more enjoyable. The facilities were spotless, and the staff was incredibly friendly, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. We loved the secluded feel of the resort’s location, being close to the dog beach, and having so many activities on-site that we didn’t feel the need to leave. We’ll definitely be back!

Wow! Just simply wow. Flying Flags Avila Beach exceeded all our expectations. From the seamless online booking to the friendly and efficient check-in process, everything was perfect. The accommodations are top-notch, offering a blend of comfort and luxury that made our stay incredibly enjoyable. The bathrooms are impeccably clean – some of the cleanest I've ever seen anywhere!

The views from the hike-in spots are breathtaking, providing a serene and picturesque backdrop that you have to see to believe. Little Sky in the gift shop was an absolute delight, adding a personal and welcoming touch to our experience.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! It’s an easy 20/10 recommendation. We’re already looking forward to our next visit from CO. If you’re considering a stay here, don’t hesitate – you’ll be blown away!

We camped with a sprinter van in the car camping location. The location and the facilities are great for the price! Every campsite has an ocean view. Everything is very clean and everyone was very friendly. The minus point would be because the sites are very tight, there is no dish washing station or water spigot by the car camping sites. There were very clean portable toilets by the car camping sites.
There are toilets and showers available in the campground.

This place is awesome, extremely well-maintained, quiet (aside from the sounds of nature, i.e. seals), with jaw-dropping views and weather. The staff has been nothing but accommodating, respectful, and friendly.

Something to note, this isn't an amenity-heavy location, there are no pools, playgrounds, or mini-golf. I think that is the point here. It is a short walk to the only leash-free dog beach in California. And a short walk to other family-friendly beaches around (and some not so family-friendly).

If you are into amazing views, sunsets, and peace, this is your place. We look forward to returning in the near future.

I loved our time at Flying Flags Avila. The sites were so well thought out, properly maintained, and comfortable. The town of Avila was so quaint and I can’t wait to visit again. Great food, sights, and the dog beach made our pups super happy.
