This State Park is incredible. It's like your own little oasis and piece of history tucked away on a private little island-like campground. The trees are huge and amazing hanging above us. Absolutely gorgeous place, fun places to walk and play with small children also, very safe. I will definitely be coming back!

Our camping experience at Fort McAllister was just days after Hurricane Helene, and it was spectacular! They were working hard to clear the debris. We were grateful they had power and some sites were open. We had dinner at Fish Tails three times. It's perfect because it's so near the park!

Camped at Fort McAllister in Nov 2024. Enjoyed the park. It rained off & on the second day. We kayaked & were bombarded by gnats. Overall, it's a nice, clean park. The raccoons are hungry, so put your food away at night.

This is our 3rd year staying here and it's beautiful. I asked one of the camp host Andrew if he could spot me when I had to move and he was more than willing and his wife Karen came to help too. Thank you to you both!

We tent camped 3 nights in September at Fort McAllister and absolutely loved every minute! The park and campground are beautiful and well maintained with plenty of shade. It was low 90s, but we were comfortable in the abundant shade (we are from south Georgia, so used to the heat). The campsites are spacious and not too close to your neighbors.
The bathhouse was EXCEPTIONALLY clean and meticulously maintained by the friendly and helpful camp host John Austin. I really appreciate his efforts! He clearly goes above and beyond his duties.
Our favorite part of the campground was all the animals just walking around doing their thing. They would walk right thru our site. Very entertaining! Do beware, though, and keep all food put away securely. The raccoons are very clever little guys and will steal anything left unattended!
I would recommend that the lights on the bathhouse be less bright (maybe warm vs cool lights). They lit up our tent even though we were pretty far from it and affected the star gazing.
I also loved that I could lay in my bed and watch the sunrise. The good Lord willing, we'll be back!
