Paula is the best instructor ever! She explained everything so clearly and she was so patient with us and made sure we practiced a lot and ensured our safety too. We dived in barracuda lake which was the perfect place to learn cos the surface was freshwater and it was nice and cool but the deeper u got the warmer the water got. There were no waves or currents or other tourists so we could learn in peace. In the end we managed to dive to 20m on a single breath and Paula even took us to a newly discovered cave that was so beautiful to free dive. We also dove with dugongs !

Freediving with MJ was amazing! She was able to teach me all the basics and must know during our lecture. She properly demonstrated proper diving and would be there to capture your best moments under water. I appreciated how much she motivated me during our session and reminded me to be calm. She's easy to get along with, and I trusted her with my life during our session. ?

As someone who had just learned to swim, I ventured into freediving with a mixture of excitement and fear. The initial stages were daunting, but Paula, my instructor, played a pivotal role in easing my anxiety. She was calm, reassuring, and incredibly patient. It’s amazing how from barely knowing how to swim, I reached 14 meters deep at the warm part of Barracuda Lake. I was able to swim close to the dugong and explore the skeleton wreck. I consider these as milestones, testifying to the progress I made under Paula’s guidance. I’m beyond grateful for the experience. Indeed, freediving is an adventure worth pursuing for anyone eager to explore the underwater world.

I was in Coron before in 2019, but I didn’t freedive back then. So for my second trip I researched where I could do my 3 day Advanced Freediver course and several people on Reddit recommended to do it with MJ from Freediving Coron. So I did in the last couple of days (October 2024) and the training was fantastic!

MJ was quick to respond on Instagram/Whatsapp about scheduling everything and when I arrived she was prepared well. The course was fantastic, I gained a lot of knowledge in the theory lessons, but of course enjoyed the freediving the most.

We went to beautiful reefs and a secluded beach and were in the back parts of Barracuda lake, where only freedivers are allowed and no other tourists, so we basically had the place to ourselves for hours.

After my first course my deepest dive was to 10 meters. With MJ I managed to dive to 27 meters in the end of this course - even though MJ always reminded me that the focus should be on good techniques and not on pushing the limits in an unreasonable way.

As you can see MJ also took great footage of me diving with her GoPro. Thank you so much, I have to come back one day!!

Wow what an amazing experience I'm so glad I found this dive shop. The instructor's were amazing I was surprised how calm and comfortable I felt in the water and had complete trust in my instructor it was so much fun. I'll be back in the spring and can't wait to go book some more fun with free diving coron. See you soon ?

Best way to start your freediving journey is with coach MJ Paula. I have no background in freediving but her approach in teaching makes it easy for me to progress at my own pace. Her emphasis on correct equalization, breath control, and the importance of a buddy system improved my confidence and skills in freediving.

Very special dive experience with thermocline + halocline in Barracuda Lake. Paula and Daniel are great instructors and just very kind and chill people. Had so much fun hanging out, got some great videos, and made solid progress on my training.. now when can I go back ? haha
