I've been here twice now (pictures are from two separate occasions), and I have enjoyed myself each time. There is tons to do there and something for everyone. Whether you want to camp, fish, play golf, hike, or test out your skills at the air rifle range--- you will find something worthwhile!

We enjoyed camping here though we didn’t stay very long, only a couple of days. The RV sites are very level and well maintained. The RV/camping area is on the smaller side compared to the rest of the park. We didn’t ride the train or use the golf course, but we did go to the museum which is nice, but also small. It has an inside area approximately 500 sqft with exhibits and displays as well as the outside field area with artillery pieces, tanks, APCs, and aircraft on display. We were there for July 4th which we enjoyed the fireworks display, but it was very hot during the day. Normal GA inland summer hot, but it did limit how much we could do outside ourselves and the kids only tolerated it so much. Close to the lake there were also plenty of gnats which were a bit of a nuisance, but nothing bug spray or citronella candles couldn’t handle. We would stay again, but maybe during the cooler months instead of the middle of summer.

The Georgia Veterans State Park is a huge well maintained series of campgrounds, fishing, golf and water activities. This place is over 1,300 acres. They also have a large display of aircraft, tanks, artillery and personnel carriers on display. A great spot to visit.

Great train ride to Plains for the 4th of July festivities and a very nice fireworks show! Nice people and service with the SAM Train folks. Highly recommend taking advantage of this excursion.

Enjoyed checking this State Park out. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Though I didn't stay/camp, they do have cabins for rent that looked nice. They had lots of picnic areas and restrooms. Although, the restroom I used was pretty trashed. I would recommend checking this park out if you're driving through or close by.

We stayed here for 5 nights after Christmas through New Years. While we were here it was very cold, unseasonably for the area. We had deer walk right up to our campsite daily, we biked miles and miles all over the park, we visited Striplings general store just off site and it’s incredible! My son found 6 geocaches on the park property, which he thought was the best part. We visited the museum and all the military equipment, we played disc golf and did a lot of relaxing at our camp. We cooked over the fire and all our campsite neighbors were so friendly. Our dog especially loved this trip!
While we loved our campsite accommodations, the closest bathroom, comfort station 3, was not the best option. We used it for showers the first 2 nights and let me tell you it is very warm, which was super nice because it was in the 30s. Then the 3rd night there was no hot water. We roughed it through the cold showers in 30 degree weather bc at least the bathrooms were warm. The next day we decided to check the hot water and learning it was still not working, we walked to comfort station 2. Wow! The lady who keeps that one clean…is doing an amazing job! It was only after seeing her work that we realized ours was definitely lacking. She keeps the toilets clean including under the toilet seats, keeps the floors and showers free from grass and dirt all day long. Comfort station 3 the older gentleman never once cleaned either of those things. He would clean the toilets and empty the “feminine products” baskets all day. But after he cleaned the toilet he would leave the seat in the up position, and you could see all the disgusting things underneath it that weren’t being cleaned. And why leave a woman’s toilet seat up anyway? If it had been down I wouldn’t have known. Also I had to take a cup and fill it before each shower and clean all the dirt and grass out so I wasn’t standing in it while showering. In the men’s bathroom the toilet was broken and my sons and husband had to fix the flushing handle spring by removing the back of the toilet and repositioning it everytime they used the bathroom. In comfort station 2 - wow grass was never an issue in the bathroom. Anyway, this park is beautiful and there are so many things to do and explore. Also comfort station 1 & 3 both have a free washer and dryer you can use. Which I LOVED!!
We will definitely stay here again.
Note: we did report the hot water not working and by the last day we were there they had signs up stating “no hot water” and we noticed the maintenance guy working on it. We didn’t complain about the bathroom cleanliness or the broken toilet - bc we have stayed at campgrounds with so much worse. It was only after comparing the two at the same park that we realized it could be done better. We also didn’t realize the cleaning people stayed on property mere feet from the facilities and were supposed to keep them clean.

Beautiful!
Arrived Friday night and left Sunday Morning. Friday night we went to the resort restaurant which was within walking distance. We had the BBQ Philly, pulled pork nachos, and a burger (don't get the burger; very greasy). The atmosphere was great and the service was good.
We were on site 23 (waterfront). The
campground was clean and quiet. There were a lot of boaters on the water. Next time, we will stay longer to enjoy more amenities.
