Hotel McCoy is an awesome boutique hotel, not far from both downtown and the cultural heart of South Tucson. The best part is the hotel supports local artists and hosts events. It is not your ordinary hotel! It has become part of the cultural vibe of this town since the concept opened. It is particularly special that the owners want to engage with the community. The rooms of the hotel are named after local artists. Tucson has a very vibrant arts scene and it's fitting that the town has a gathering center for artists of all types, including unique folk art. This place supports everyone. And that is the best part. The staff is incredibly friendly and down to earth. Sugar who manages the lobby is very nice and helpful! Overall vibe The property is a restored 1960s motor lodge that leans hard into its “art hotel” identity, with murals and original works covering nearly every surface, indoors and out. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming rather than pretentious, so the art feels accessible and fun even if you are not a typical gallery-goer. Art everywhere Hotel McCoy showcases work from dozens of local artists, with pieces in guest rooms, along exterior walkways, and in shared spaces like the lobby and bar. Many of these works are for sale and displayed commission‑free for the artists, which gives the place an authentic, living-gallery feel instead of a decorative “art theme.” Curation and themes The curation leans heavily into Tucson’s desert identity, mid‑century nostalgia, and inclusive, contemporary Southwestern aesthetics. This is not a five star hotel, but it was a five star stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, not fancy. The staff is top notch friendly. I had absolutely the best grilled ham and cheese sandwich I have ever had in my life. My wife had stayed twice on trips to visit her mother in SoCal, and I had to make an emergency trip and stayed as well. Three stays, three five star experiences. I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel and staff are charming and we truly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. We love that we get to park right in front of our room. We had a wonderful time in the warm pool. The breakfast was yummy. The location of the hotel is ideal to move around all parts of town. It was a good stay.

This place was so perfect to stay at for our Tucson trip! I loved the vibe of the whole place, and I appreciate the dedication to support local artists! I wish we had time to use all the amenities they offer! The service was so friendly as well. We loved our room-we ended our nights watching TV on their big screens and it was nice to unwind after some active days. The only thing I wish is that the beds were a little comfier-we both had sore backs by the end of our stay. They weren’t totally uncomfortable, just a little more stiff than we were used to! Even so, I would still book here again as I think it’s a much better experience than a typical hotel!

We had a fabulous stay at the funky McCoy motel last night. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. I t was easy to find and great access to I19 heading south. We enjoyed visiting with other travellers at the bar/lounge with sandwiches, wine and beer. The oatmeal this morning was delicious. We will be back !

Stayed here for a week during our tour in Tucson and really enjoyed it. The rooms are clean, with a very big TV and a nice sitting area right outside the door. Breakfast is simple but enough to start the day, and I love that they welcome pets too! The whole vibe is super chill, colorful, and creative. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere just makes you feel at home. The hotel’s right off the highway, not in the city center, so having a car is definitely helpful. It’s not really a walkable area if you’re looking for food or a mini market nearby, but it’s still a great place to come back to and relax. Only small downsides: the AC can be a bit loud and the door was sometimes tricky to close. But overall, such a fun and comfortable stay!

This was my first stay at Hotel McCoy - I made a reservation there as the price was reasonable and it looked like a more interesting place than a typical motel. The location is convenient, not far from the freeway but far enough that I didn't notice traffic noise. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly. I was texted an entry code for my room door so there was no key or card key to deal with, which was nice. It's a one-story place, which I always like, and while the buildings themselves are older everything has been nicely renovated and I appreciated the arty touches throughout the entire motel - inside my room, on exterior walls, and in the lobby and other common areas. My room was medium sized and a bit sparsely furnished though some of the 1950s period pieces were a very nice touch. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a small desk and chair, mini-fridge with freezer comparten, big TV, and good A/C that was not too noisy. There was no microwave or coffeemaker in the room. The vanity area and separate bathroom with tub/shower were very nice. ||A cool amenity was the complimentary beer or wine on tap at the bar area next to the check-in desk of the lobby, and I enjoyed a beer after settling into my room. There's a lounge area adjacent to the lobby and a large breakfast room next to that. The complimentary breakfast was distinctive - besides coffee, tea, fruit, and bread for toast, the main offering was a bowl of oatmeal with a large array of toppings available. There are a number of other options available at an additional charge for breakfast as well as for beer, wine, cocktails, non-alcoholics drinks, and light food choices. Overall this was a comfortable and very memorable stay for me at Hotel McCoy and I'd gladly stay there again.

Thank you, Hotel McCoy for a magical stay!! This was our first time visiting Tucson and I have never been so inspired and uplifted by a hotel experience in my life. This special roadside retreat is its own attraction. The entire property is so creative, amazing, and thoughtful, it's like stepping into a dream from the moment you arrive. Friendly, welcoming staff and service, beautiful hand-painted murals, local art, pinball machines, board games, ping pong table, heated saltwater pool and fire pit for cool desert nights, keyless entry, comfy, cozy rooms and parking spaces right in front of your room. And their OATMEAL BAR is chef's kiss!!! Hotel McCoy is in a league of its own and we can't wait to return.
