Such a fun place of history! I had no idea there were so many different varieties of barbed wire. Learning about the history is fascinating & the house is really neat. So many different historical items - a mustache cup, handmade elegant clothing, lots of original family history. The staff & volunteers were wonderful as well.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. We have lived in the area a while and I don't think I knew exactly where it was. Its amazing what Glidden did for the town, community and beyond with his invention and dedication. They had "souper Tuesday" and my granddaughter and I sat down with others with great soup, cornbread and fruit. I appreciate their knowledge and hospitality here!

Been here once but it was closed. I could only walk by the front of the house and garden. It's only a 5-minutes stop, if you deem it worth your time to visit.

There are some photos posted on this review section by other people who have visited- and that's about all I saw, too. No interior home photos, just pictures of the outside of the house.

The Glidden Homestead and Historical Center is an absolute blast to go to! The history for local barbed wire baron Joseph Glidden is fantastic and seeing the history locked in place is super interesting. There is also a WORKING blacksmith shop open every second and fourth Sunday from June to November where you can see demonstrators work hands-on, forging art out of steel! If you are able to make it out there for opening day of the season you will get the chance to see into THE BARN where “The Winner” barbed wire was invented. Well worth making a visit!
