Being brand new to Seattle and the PNW, and showing up in the winter, I was prepared for the "Seattle Freeze" that everyone talked about.

Not only has LUC helped introduce me to an incredible sport that is helping me to reach my goals and potential physically, it's connected me to a community of like-minded individuals, and has made my transition to Seattle more fun and exciting than I ever imagined!

The coaches and staff are caring, helpful, and dedicated. I won't begin to name names, simply because there have been SO many who have helped along the way, and I wouldn't want to leave anyone out...

I highly recommend LUC to anyone looking to expand their fitness, community, and their overall health.

So if you're thinking about it... Just do it... and find yourself on the water at LUC!

Took a Learn To Row class at Lake Union Crew a few months ago. The coach was extremely rude, short tempered and condescending to me.

Being a new rower and also someone with chronic illness, I'd expected more of an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere. Not everyone is here to row to become an Olympic athlete.

After my experience here, I've been completely dissuaded from the whole sport.

My daughter had private lessons over 2 weeks of the summer break whilst visiting relatives in the local area. From the initial booking enquiry with Patty Doty to an inspiring chat with legend Ed Ives to the superb coaching of Gil Hernandez, the LUC experience reignited her love of rowing and built her confidence to pursue higher levels of competition.

Gil was an exceptional coach - he tailored the lessons to get the most out of each session yet was very adaptable and listened carefully to his rower. His expertise and passion for the sport shone through, and his valued, timely, and constructive feedback was extremely helpful in driving self-improvement. Would highly recommend Gil for private lesson coaching!

Had a wonderful rehearsal dinner at Lake Union Crew a few weeks ago. It was the perfect place---beautiful setting, lovely room, access to the dock area. When we first looked at the space it was an overcast day so the Space Needle could not be seen. On the day of the party, the weather was great and the views were fabulous---including the Space Needle (especially nice since the guests were from out of town). The entire experience was positive from booking, to questions, to the dinner using outside caterers.

A special big thank you to Jay who was a tremendous help before, during and after the event.

I joined LUC at the age of 60. I had never rowed before but LUC took me in had encouraged me to hang in there and keeping working. That was almost 10 months ago and physically the changes have been phenomenal, strength, stamina and flexibility have improved beyond my expectations and learning to row has been a great experience.

Hands down, best boat house in the area. Superior coaching, great location and very friendly members. If you're looking for a change, or to challenge yourself with a "learn to row" session, give LUC a try. You will learn new skills/techniques you didn't know you had.

The location is great, easy to get to from work in SLU. The coaching staff is super friendly and helpful, and the facilities have plenty of space. I use the boathouse as my gym on days when I do not row, and there's enough machines and weights to get in a solid workout. The boathouse location on the water is great, with quick access to Lake Union, the Ship Canal, and Portage Bay.
