Great little museum dedicated to local hero and NBA all-time great Larry Bird. Very well put together timeline from his childhood days, to high school, college, and his professional career and career as a coach/executive. Place has an awesome assortment of artifacts from his career, from game-worn memorabilia, championship rings, his 1992 Olympic gold medal, and all sorts of trophies and plaques from awards Larry won throughout his career.

Staff was very friendly and eager to chat or answer any questions. It’s free but I always leave a small donation to help these places with operating expenses to show my appreciation.

Highly recommended!

It was a very cool museum with fun interactions and lots of background details about Larry Bird. The cool uniforms and trophies were a big highlight. It was really cool to see the actual gold medal from the 1992 Olympics. I really need to work on my free throws.

Hi I'm from Illinois and Larry Bird was, is and always will be (my hero)! One of the greatest to ever pick up a 🏀 basketball and my personal all time favorite! I visited the museum shortly after making my 🪣 bucket list Celtics game which was game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It was amazing to find out so much more about my hero, and I was blown away to see so much of his hardware he picked up during his career and uniforms all the way back to his high school days. The 3 world championship rings were the icing on the cake but OMG there's so much more including rings, trophies, his Olympic gold 🥇 medal from the original 92 (dream team) and not to mention the signed shirt Magic Johnson gave him at the 93 retirement ceremony! It's a small place, but there's more than enough stuff to see. So so glad I made it there, and to do it just after making a Celtics playoff game in Boston was special. It's a must see for any fan of this great Legend! My hero! The only way I could ever top this is to actually meet Larry! I'm glad he dedicated the 84 championship to Terre Haute. I still go back and watch it sometimes, and recently caught an interview of Cedric Maxwell reliving game 4 so I relived it with them! Awesome stuff! Thank you to Terre Haute, and to Larry Bird for making this museum possible! Love you all!

The Larry Bird Museum is a must-visit for any basketball fan, even if you think you know everything about the legend himself. The museum's chronological layout, starting with Bird's childhood in French Lick and following his journey through Indiana University, the Boston Celtics, and beyond, is incredibly engaging. I was surprised by how much I learned about his life and career, and the collection of memorabilia he loaned is truly impressive. The shooting cage is a fun addition, and it's great that the museum is free. We spent about 45 minutes exploring, but could easily have stayed longer. Highly recommended!

I traveled 200 miles to see my idol and visit the new museum. It is a place to not only to honor a basketball legend, but to inspire its patrons. I found out many things about Larry Bird I didn't know from reading his book. The Red Auerbach Western Union telegram was interesting and the many quotes about Bird from other players off the court. I actually laughed out loud reading the trash talk wall. While reading about his humble beginnings they have some great visuals to explain how he and yourself measure up against the competition. He did not dominate in jumping or other things but used his quick mind to excel in the game. At the end of the visit I threw some hoops which I haven't done in years. I missed several shots and after touring this exhibit I am going to work on getting back into basketball again this summer. I think this is what this museum has set out to do is inspire everyone. I also now realize why Bird made such a great coach!
I hope they do have some special exhibits or events over the years to keep it fresh. Its a small town and a small museum you only need to see once, I wouldn't mind stopping at it again to see something new if I was in the area.

Getting to see how it started for Larry was awesome. To see things from his playing career was great. I consider Larry one of the greatest. Best part I got to see him play college ball at ISU
