Pretty disappointed by this one. We did the Scientist room and everything just felt pretty underwhelming. The decor was definitely lacking, the clues had a lot of open interpretation which lead us to just guessing multiple combinations until we got it, and nothing felt that rewarding when you solved it since everything was just one lock and key. Compared to other rooms I’ve where they have dynamic features this one was definitely pretty lame in comparison. Our host also wasn’t really that fun or invested; not sure who wanted to leave that place more Us or Him.

I think the puzzles here were great and better than many of the rooms we have been to. We did both the medieval and science themed rooms, I personally enjoyed the science room. Better than the other escape room we did in the area, maybe less immersive but the puzzles were more fun and interesting. Dude was running the place by himself too which took heroic effort.

Going to Lock Down is one of our favorite experiences in SD! Me and my best friend are escape room fans (we play them online together often), and we were looking for an affordable yet challenging escape room in San Diego. Lock Down was just that place for us. It’s about $70 for both of us, but it’s a very immersive experience. The puzzles and props are clearly well thought out. A word of advice would be to take hints early if you get stuck, especially if you’re playing with just 2 people like we always do! He gives great and helpful hints without fully giving away the answer, so there’s still a sense of reward, which I think is important. We’ve been to 3/4 rooms so far, and we’ve escaped 2 (the only one we didn’t escape was the highest difficulty, and he gave us a heads up about this before we played). We’ll definitely be back to complete the last one soon!

This is the best escape room place!!!! Love love love their rooms here, especially their Western room. I've done a lot of escape rooms and so far Lockdown's Western room is my absolute favorite.

Their clues all make sense unlike some of the other rooms I've done. Everything is well thought out and the props are a lot better than other escape rooms in my opinion. Their videos which give you the background story were actually well made.

I've tried all 4 rooms here. The Medieval room was by far the easiest. Three of us completed it in 27 minutes and 13 seconds, with 2 of us being seasoned escape room players and 1 being completely new to escape rooms. They say the Science room is the hardest, but I actually thought the Voodoo room was more difficult.

The rooms are $35/person, but if you come back to do another room within a week, they give you a discount.

Ranking the rooms in order of the ones I like best:
1) Western room
2) Science room
3) Medieval room
4) Voodoo room

Hands down one of the best escape room venues in San Diego. They have rooms for all experiences. As you walk in they greet and set you up almost immediately. Once you sign the waiver you watch a short back story of your room and what are you goals. If you are able to solve the small puzzle cube they might give you an extra clue for your room but it does t always happen. They have four rooms to try . We have attempted all of them and had a huge success. They have the medevil room easiest, Western room intermediate, voodoo room intermediate, and the lab hardest. The clues are very well placed and with a good team everyone should be successful if not having lots of fun. I would recommend this place.

So I visited lockdown yesterday Sept 6th at 9pm and boy was this experience disappointing. Right from the start when I arrived the game master there was so monotone and dismissive. We played the voodoo room and it was so lackluster there was hardly decorations it felt like it wasn't completely finished. It felt like I was in an office space with limited decorations that didn't fit the theme at all. Overall if I could rate my experience at this place it was definitely a zero even at the end when we finished it; it took a while to come get us when the game master did get us he asked if we had any questions he said ok than you're free to go and that was it.

service was good, but the rooms themselves are super low production and not that creative :/ Might be fun if you've never done an escape room, but otherwise not worth it! We did the western room

Did this as part of a bachelor party and had a great time. We did the Western room which was one of the medium rooms. Most of us had not done an escape room before and two of us had. The puzzles were really fun and require team work. Finished with 20 minutes to spare and no clues used! Would go back and do a more difficult room.
