A must-do for nature lovers in the Chattanooga area. This relatively unknown spot atop Lookout Mountain is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Whether you want easily accessible views for a scenic picnic or a strenuous and challenging gnarly hike of many miles, this is the place for you. Note that it's only open a couple of weekends a month, so check the website before heading out.

Lula Lake is an absolute gem of a Land Trust right in Chattanooga’s backyard. Open only the first and last weekend of the month (except for winter months), Lula Lake offers a few different trails to get to the falls, all the way from a gravel road that runs from the parking lot to the upper area of the falls (which offers a great view for those who can’t or don’t want to hike a trail) to a mildly strenuous series of combo-trails you can combine to make a very short to mid-length day hike. Again, the gravel trail is great for those who may not physically be able to hike on a trail. We’ve seen people of all ages on this trail, including motorized wheelchairs, so Lula Lake really has done a great job to make this a very accessible and family friendly site.

Offering up incredible views of 2 different waterfalls within the property, you can easily see both from the trail or hike down to the base for a better view of each. The Lula Falls trail is a little more difficult, and it’s almost a staircase for the most part & weaves through a small boulder field before opening up at the base. Many people who have capable pets have walked them down to the base too, so if your dog goes on regular hikes, they can go too. Just make sure to PUT THEM ON A LEASH. No one likes unleashed dogs around that many people.

Just make sure you check in at the desk, make your donation and enjoy your day!!

Fantastic private conservation area/park. You need to buy tickets/reservation prior to showing up, and they lit the number of visitors to improve the experience and preserve the land. Trails are almost entirely shaded in summer, and if you go off on the smaller trails you're unlikely to run into many other hikers.

DON’T WASTE UR TIME GOING HERE I was there LONG BEFORE THE DAVEN-PORTS back in the 70’s fishing with my dad. So, since they keep DELETING the truth I put on here, I will copy and paste this TRUTHFUL INFORMATION and keep adding it under differ-ent names. I will challenge everyone to VERIFY everything that I tell you. Do it for yourself. #1 "Lula Lake" is NOT a lake. It’s simply a large "swimming hole" on Rock Creek. #2 It is OWNED by the Davenport family. Who are the "Davenports"? They are billionaires that own the Krystal hamburger corporation as well as several other restaurant chains. Google up the name Davenport & enjoy the TRUTH THAT YOU WILL DISCOVER. They have bought hun-dreds & thousands of acres of this property & they had it classified as a "Land Trust". Do you know why? So that they can use it as a tax write off – and keep it for their FRIENDS AND FAMILIES! Then they turn around and charge US – honest & genuine American citizens in-credibly high visiting fees – simply to MAKE PROFITS. How arrogant to do this to other hu-mans who simply wish to visit a gift of God. A beautiful treasure. As I’ve said earlier, since the 70's, my dad & myself, as a child, fished Rock Creek. Back then it was stocked on a regular ba-sis with Rainbow Trout. I saw Lula Lake & waded it BEFORE the SELFISH Davenports moved in, bought and blocked everyone else from viewing it. AGAIN - I fished this creek in the 70's. I was there. I am a Bradford, and we own land that borders Bear Creek. The D's are trying to get ALL THAT land too. Bear Creek flows into Cloudland Canyon. Oh, BTW, Cloudland Canyon - can be visited DAILY & yes, you can camp there - ALL FOR ALMOST NOTHING!! I assure you this - you will NEVER – EVER - be able to camp anywhere near Lula Lake. (BTW – HEADS UP - THEY HAVE DOZENS OF HIDDEN CAMERAS MONITERING THE WOODS AND TRAILS. SO, REMEMBER, YOU’RE NOT HIKING PRIVATELY - A LIT-TLE 411 FOR EVERYONE ON THIS – YOU’RE BEING WATCHED CLOSELY) So why do the D's CHARGE MONEY TO SEE Lula Lake ? Because they are arrogant and SELFISH. THEIR family, however, goes to Lula Lake on a REGULAR BASIS. During those periods when they do not allow OTHER Americans to go there. (This is why it is *CLOSED* so often) … Trust me, it is NEVER CLOSED for wealthy Davenports. Protest this! AVOID WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
