Cascada normalita, el camino hasta ella merece la pena.

Maunawili Falls is beautiful and serene. The private road to the falls is closed, but you can still use the public road. Make sure to bring lots of water and some snacks to keep your energy up. A walking stick would be helpful as well. Parking is also limited, so try to get there early.

This was my favorite hike.

If you are over 40 and have ANY foot, ankle, knee or balance issues, choose another hike. There is NO good footing the entire way, very slick and unbelievably muddy. Bugs weren't too bad but we put repellant on, still got a few bites. The pics don't do the terrain any justice, btw. We are in average shape and took us 5.5 hours to go out and back. The falls are underwhelming after the hike in. Over 75 people at various points in the hike. The experience leans to the "not worth the time" side of the ledger. Take water, a hiking stick, and patience. We saw footwear from bare feet to boots. Whatever you wear will be caked with mud, no place to rinse off once you get done.

On a side note, visitors are threatened with arrest if they stand on or touch a reef in the ocean. BUT, you can bludgeon a muddy trail, walk over roots, hike up the riverbed, and generally abuse (through unmitigated foot traffic) the landscape. Sort of an odd dichotomy.

While some have said this was an easy hike, perhaps they are regular hikers. It was just over three hours for us out and back, with about 15 min stop at the waterfall. Good footwear may be the trick to getting you in/out safely. Prepare for wet & mud, and beautiful jungle.

Sore today, but well worth the time spent. It was the only thing on this Minnesota Mom's list and I loved it.

Thanks to everyone for keeping it clean and taking trash back out. ?

A much more challenging hike than my family was expecting, so if you have small children please be prepared to do a lot of work keeping them safe. The trail isn't exactly dangerous, but it isn't well maintained in many areas and after the rain, the entire trail at the base of the hills become super muddy.

This trail is beautiful in the fact that it's a true "jungle" trail.. It's literally carved out in the middle of nature without any car noise.. houses.. etc. It's awesome if you want to get outside and get to experience something in a beautiful natural state. The waterfall at the end is awesome too! Please be sure to not litter.. Keep noise pollution down and leash/clean up after your dogs.

Hiked to the falls with our two sons (6 and 9 years old). This hike it more strenuous and longer than we expected, but it was really fun. Just know it's going to take a good 4-5 hours to hike out, hang at the falls for a little, and hike back. My older son and I jumped from the lower part of the falls and that's a memory I'll never forget.

This hike was fantastic. A real hike. Not your nice path / tour. Definitely bring hiking boots no flip flops! It is muddy and slippery. It was a little challenging for me as a novis hiker. 3.6 miles round trip. 3 hours. With some time in the pool at the bottom of the falls.

Challenging hike, but worth it! Many tricky steps, a few river crossings, and steep stairs make this hike a bit challenging but not too bad if your a pretty able bodied person. The jungle views, the waterfall, and the refreshing swim make it all worth it!!
