I am glad this resource is here for those who need it. My one complaint is that the woman who calls people’s numbers back seems to take a very raised and authoritative tone with everyone, and expressed clear frustration when I needed to fill out paperwork as I was new. I think it costs nothing to be polite, especially when you are working with a vulnerable population. But other than that, it was a good experience and I would recommend it to others.

They've helped me in times of need. Somedays the wait time can be extremely long, but they will not turn you away. Be sure to get there a bit earlier, as they do stop giving out tickets close to the actual closing time. Make sure to take a look at the other resources iowa offers if you're down on your luck. There is always something for you.

Had to wait about 45 minutes to get my turn to go in to pick up my items. It was pretty slim pickings even within 45 minutes of their opening. Signs were on a few items help yourself and some people that got in before me were taking 6 to 8 items and nothing left when I got in there. Rather disappointing. I realize that donations to the food bank are down. But I don't think there should be a sign on items help yourself. As you know some will always take more than their fair share.

I frequently go to the food bank myself. But I also give back so that it'll be there for others as well. Oh I thank God that they there. Because it's times that I don't have enough to eat enough food in my freezer so on those months, That's when I go to the food bank. Very grateful that that they do this for us. That's why I I'll try to give back as much as I can several times a year.
