Area is currently closed. All the information on the internet says it was closed for last year, but there's nothing up for this year yet. There were no recent reviews this year, as well, so I took the rest and went up there with the kids. Unfortunately the entire area is a disaster. Looks like they're doing lots of work, it looks like they have a plan, but they are obviously behind schedule. See you from the pictures, I don't see any possible way it's going to be open this winter. Maybe next year at the end of 2024?

This review is for those like myself who are visiting from Phoenix, and are not familiar with the area or driving in the snow.

This is an awesome snow play area. It is just off the I-40, on a road that was passable even in pretty snowy conditions. Later in the day after we left, the I-40 was shut down due to a snowstorm, but as long as the freeway is open, all roads going to the snow area should also be drivable. I was in a big van with no chains or winter tires and it was very doable.

There are two sledding hills that are close to the parking lot. Both are very long, with one being steeper than the other. The one pictured here is the milder one. You can also play in the snow right by the parking lot. I had kids of all ages 1-14 with me and they all had great fun.

The parking lot (second picture) can probably fit 20-25 cars. We got there around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, and there were about 10 cars there. By the time we left shortly after 11, it was starting to fill up, with what looked like mostly Valley people (I doubt locals go to play in the snow in jeans 🤣). I recommend arriving early, or spending the night in Flagstaff or Williams and going in the morning, which is what we did.

There was so much snow that I would guess this area will have awesome powder snow conditions though at least the end of the week of March 20.

If you are looking to go sledding or playing in abundant snow, this is the place to go!!

The only negative thing I can say is the parking is limited. However that also made our experience that much better. My family arrived around 830am and we had plenty of time and space to enjoy park and it's scenery.

This place is fun.. be prepared to get bumps and bruises though. The parking lot is really small and fills up early. There is one shared restroom that STINKS up the whole area but at least there's somewhere to go if you gotta go.

Because it's FREE it gets 5 stars lol. Otherwise, the bathroom needs major help. Bring your own toilet paper since it will be gone. Smells horrible but at least there is a bathroom. Go early because the parking lot fills up even when there's not much snow. We got there at 9:30 when there were only 3 other cars there. Probably an hour later there were another 5 and and an hour after that it was over full.

The snow was more like ice but the kids enjoyed it. Not too far from town, free, beautiful, with enough snow to make the kids smile without turning into popsicles.
