Our son recently took a surfing lesson and had an incredible experience! He said Jacob’s patient, knowledgeable, and made learning fun. Jacob provided clear instructions and personalized tips, ensuring our son felt comfortable in the water. The location offered perfect waves for beginners. This lesson was so incredibly helpful. Rod was my instructor and he really taught me the gist of it all. He taught everything you’d need to know to get out there on your own and do good from how to stand to the right of way on the wave. I would so recommend if you were clueless like me!

In my son's own words, "I'm a surfer thanks to Ohana Surf Camp!".

He wanted to go to surf camp which worried me because he had never been in the ocean much deeper than his knees. He spent a week at ohana surf camp's week long camp earlier this summer where he learned ocean safety and how to vibe with it for the first time. I hope to sign him up for more next year, but the spots run out fast, so I'll try.

Today, he had his first private lesson with Jacob and that was a game changer. Jacob spent a short but appropriate amount of time before going into the water with him. The lesson before the water is very consistent (summer camp vs private lesson... ocean safety, surf etiquette, how to paddle out, how to pop up, how to get off after the ride. And other things) Then Jacob and my boy took to the ocean and Jacob was so dialed in on what the young one needed, he knew when to give specific and clear direct instructions, when and how to build a bond between boy and water. Boy was able to stand up on every ride in and got sturdier on each attempt.

My main takeaway: I felt like my kid was in the safest situation he could be, while on a board in the ocean. I would recommend the summer camps or the private lessons to anyone I love.

And kiddo wants more lessons with Ohana for sure!

Had such an amazing experience. It was my sons first lesson and Jacob was amazing with him. Jacob was very hands on and informative. He definitely calmed my sons nerves. Will definitely be doing another private lesson with Jacob.

This was such an amazing experience! I've wanted to learn to surf for 20+ years, but I had a lot of apprehension that I wouldn't be able to learn as an adult, especially without a background in water sports. Jacob was the perfect person to help me overcome a lot of mental blocks with his compassionate, fun approach to teaching; he truly has a gift. Over the course of a handful of lessons, he helped me gain strength, endurance and so much confidence both in the water and in myself! I'm forever grateful for him, and I'm absolutely hooked on surfing now! My niece also took a lesson, and it was the highlight of her summer. As I travel for work, I plan to continue taking lessons elsewhere, but the new instructors will have huge shoes to fill after this experience!
Also, these classes were the perfect length, and quite affordable.

Jacob was an amazing instructor! I was in town for 2 days and wanted to try surfing. Called the night before and got a private lesson for the next morning. Never surfed in my life and Jacob had me up surfing for an hour 1/2. Bucket list experience, and got to meet a very cool person in the process!

The best surf camp ever! My 2 kids have been going there for a few years now and they always come back home so happy. Everyone is very responsible, attentive, super nice. The pizza party is definitely a highlight! Keep doing what you are doing, you are definitely doing it right! ⭐️

My sister & I had a lesson with Rodrigo this past weekend and it was a 10/10 experience. The weather was beautiful. I felt comfortable, safe & supported. The water is pretty shallow, I could touch the bottom the whole time. It was a very chill, positive, friendly & inclusive environment. We brought a chair so my mom could sit up by the road and watch us.

Rod had great feedback to help improve our technique. We both got up multiple times with support and independently. I understand why so many people are obsessed with the sport and I’m very much looking forward to the next time I hit the surf ?
