When I visited they said you can’t tour by yourself. I can only understand a bit of Spanish and apparently according to reviews, the tour groups are only in Spanish. It’s much more efficient if you can view it by yourself without being locked in a tour group that you can’t even understand. Furthermore, the fact that a tour group exists means León recognizes this is a tourist spot; either give the non-Spanish speakers freedom to explore the place (>15 minutes) or give them an English tour.

Super pretty. Couldn’t do the tour cause of vacations? But the guard let us in to see the patio. Very very pretty.

Why pretend not to speak English when your job is to represent your city to visitors? I just don't get that mentality. Upon arrival at the Palacio de los Guzmanes we were directed to a room where a woman was organising tours. I addressed the woman in Spanish and asked if she spoke English. She replied in Spanish 'the visit is in Spanish only'. I have never studied Spanish and do not claim to speak the language but I speak Italian and French and thanks to that could grasp what she was saying. I nodded and said that it was ok, we would join the tour anyway. She noted down our names and confirmed the time and place where the tour began, still in Spanish. When the tour began, I noted that she spoke in fluent English, but really good English, to a Dutch couple. Why do that, why make out you don't speak a language when you do? Surely the aim is to showcase your city and your country to visitors? Surely the fact that you speak fluent English is an asset? With a dozen or so visitors, the tour began. There were five English speakers (the Dutch couple, my wife, my son and I) and a family who originated from Southern China (my wife is Chinese and noted that they spoke Chinese), plus four Spanish people. OK, we are in Spain and the tour is in Spanish, but with half of the group speaking no Spanish, and non Spanish speakers making up more than half of the group, why not make a bit of an effort? Perhaps a short summary in English would have been enough to satisfy everyone? The result was that the Dutch couple left bored halfway through the tour, my son and I double guessed via French and Italian translating to my wife, the Chinese family concentrated on taking photos, and two Spanish couples chatted with the guide. Great result for the city of Leon.

Free tours are provided in the morning (short) and afternoon (longer), both in Spanish only.

You need to put your name down on a piece of paper at 10am in the moring if you want to join the free tour.

I don't really understand Spanish but it was nice to be able to walk around inside this former palace.

Very nice place for a quick visit
The guided tour is very cheap and totally worth it, they show you the main room upstairs which is very beautiful
The best thing about this tour is the lovely lady who was giving the tour when we went, she gave a lot of very cool facts and told us many things about the place, Leon, and in general anything related that you might ask her and more.
Highly recommended guided visit tour

Tour only in Spanish and the lady who gave the tour seemed to have some English but we were left sittin and standing in the courtyard and the government chamber like dummies. Pity we wasted our time.
I googled the basics about the place while sitting there. Bored and frustrated.

Guided tour only in Spanish... I wish this was made clear before we bought tickets at the machine which gave information in several different languages! 5 minutes would have been enough looking around but we were locked in for an hour!

The tour is quite boring. Not much to see, a lot of explanations.
