EDIT (based on owner comment): I just want to clarify to you that my goal in writing reviews is to support businesses and help the community. I am a small business owner (like yourself), so I especially want to root for small businesses and give them the benefit of the doubt. The vast-vast majority of my 565 reviews are 5 stars.
- I will happily admit if I was incorrect about the words that were exchanged between us. I will own my part of the interaction completely, and if I am proven wrong about the nature of our interaction I'll change my review. I do think tone /body language matters, but given you have the tape with video/audio, that can go a long way in resolution.
-I know when I went into that store today, my goal today was to be friendly and attempt to buy a game today to play with family friends tonight. I had a referral for Pan Am, but would have had an open mind for similar 4-player games. Can you honestly tell me that you feel you welcomed me into that store? You downplay the eye contact part, but I think everyone would agree that taking your eyes off your computer and showing a new customer the courtesy of looking at them does matter with service. (I actually don't care where you look, but at a bare minimum you can show me you care, which would be to give me your attention). My opinion was that you did that 0/10.
-It's okay if you had a tournament going on. I would understand! But in my opinion you didn't communicate anything to me except that you wanted me to leave, which is what I did.
-Given you have the footage, I'd be happy to look at it. This is the first disagreement/conflict I've ever had with an owner response (1/565) and would be happy to change my review if given evidence.
-As far as my long review, I actually thought it would be better to take a thoughtful approach rather than quick/emotional. You seem to be upset that I went into detail.

Honestly pretty bummed by the customer service. I was going to leave 3 star because it's awesome there's a board game store in town, but I can't get over the treatment I received.

I walked in 8/29/24 6pm and there were a couple groups of people playing a game and one worker behind the register. I said hello and got a cold response. The person working was looking down at his computer and didn't even look up to say hi or welcome me. I stood for a few moments unsure whether to walk and look around (didn't want to bother the game players), but I ended up staying by the entrance and asked if they had the board game 'Pan Am'. I was told a simple one word 'no' by the worker without even the courtesy to look up at me. It was really quite odd.

I would have continued to chat about other games, or look around and potentially buy a different game that suited me. I was so in awe by the lack of customer service that I stood there frozen for a minute, then walked out. As I walked out, the worker said 'cya' under his breath in a weird tone like I was being the rude one!

As far as I know, the store is open to the public and assumedly would want to sell a board game to a willing customer, but the mood was quite the opposite.

It's been a long time since I've experienced something like this.

Discovered Play it Today Games through a recommendation and the logic of the "Play It" aspect was gold! As I was exploring, I discovered the community rack and even added a new game to my own collection! I was speaking to the owner when I was checking out and he gave me some really good recommendations for the next time I'm in! Awesome setup and an amazing owner makes this an epic setup!

Awesome local game store. I love the premise. They have a great selection of games and TTRPG books. I snatched up some books during their anniversary sale that I’d been dreaming of and for great prices! Super helpful and friendly.

This is great place for that board game lover. It's really cheap to play the games available and the atmosphere is great. I have been here with the whole family and had a great time.

Amazing store and people! Much of my board game collection has come from here. The owner and the employees are all delightful and kind. The owner even got me to play a demo of a trading card game, which I had never done before. Now I play it at the store every week. If that isn't a testament to the store's quality, I don't know what is!

Really great shop with a fun atmosphere. I love coming here when I can and the owner is super friendly. The shop itself has a wide variety of games and cards and has much to offer if you enjoy magic or other tcgs. I highly recommend stopping by if you are looking for a board game or just to buy some packs. If you are looking for a place to play games they also have tables and host magic nights. Also please make sure to support the shop if you do enjoy it and pick up something.

If I could give no stars I would. The manager, Ryan, is very aggressive towards me in every way possible. He repeatedly stereotyped me by commenting negatively about the games I picked because he was massively annoyed that I was renting new games that he would need to drop the sale price of once opened. He finally canceled my membership today and was very harsh in front of my kids who did not stop asking me 10 million questions at a time about what they just witnessed.
