This place has taken so much of my money. I am so excited about it though! I traded in some of my old games and got more money than any other place in Indiana was offering. Daniel and Jake have a great thing going in Connersville and Richmond. And opening weekend was so much fun! Everything is low priced, and each time I bought a console I have gotten a free game. I'll be back next paycheck my dudes 😎

I hate to give a local business a one start but two incidents with Retro Jakes warrant the rating.

Firstly, some months back I bought a gameboy game and a Sega Genesis. I was assured the Sega Genesis worked and believed them. I got it home, was quite excited to game my vintage media going only to find out, well dang as it turns out the console doesn't work at all.

I've been told they have someone who repairs their consoles. If true, that person could benefit from "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Winfield. It is extremely poor business to declare that your items work only for them to not work, and then you have a repair person on staff who is supposed to ensure that every console that goes out that door works. If you're not sending your best, what are you sending?

I could have repaired it myself as I do electronics engineering but I was told it worked and I paid full price. They were very kind and admitted that it did not work during the return process.

The second incident is them wanting to knock $20 off the price of an item for an HDMI cable. As I sit here typing this review I can buy one on Amazon right now for $6.44 (free shipping with prime). I understand they need to make money but they surely need to assess what they are purchasing and perhaps move to a wholesale purchase of cables if their profit margin on cables is as thin as to be believed.

In short, while a lovely business concept Retro Jakes fails to deliver on customer expectations of their products and also will gouge you on anything you sell to them. My tip: Sell it yourself or shop around before making a final decision. Unless you really need that cash, do NOT sell to Retro Jakes.

Saw a sign for this place on my drive to Kentucky and decided to stop by. This was hands-down the best independent game store I have ever been to. A huge selection of vintage consoles and new games. They had some amazing funko pops I've never seen before. Everything was reasonably priced and the workers were very helpful without making me feel pressured to buy anything. Will definitely stop here again when I drive through Indiana next!

Retro jakes is AMAZING! The staff are super friendly, they have a ton of selection, and the arcade is a blast. Definitely worth checking out, but be warned because once you go, you’ll be hooked!

The woman with long dark hair working the register this past Friday, was very friendly, helpful and kind. I've been on a search for retro games and consoles. The prices are very fair (especially for the prices for the same items found online) and everything I've bought was in great working condition. I've also been to there Richmond location and although it has a bit less inventory, the staff and products were top notch.

I've shopped here a lot and honestly I've had nothing but trouble! they don't properly clean or test their consoles! I bought a super Nintendo and one game that I bought for it worked I took the rest back and they used to give me a refund because they said it worked on their console!!
GO TO RETRO RUSH INSTEAD IT'S CHEAPER

I bought a PS4 slim with all working cords and a controller but the controller was so sticky that you couldn't even push down the on buttona nd when I cleaned it and was able to push it down it didn't work at all but when I came back to the store to address the mistake they were very rude and would not let me explain and said that I just didn't know how to use a controller

RetroJake's is a great place to pick up anything you need for your gaming collection, whether you're a serious collector or just an occasional gamer. Their trade in values are leaps and bounds better than the competition and you can stock up on systems, handhelds, games and accessories at great prices. The staff has always been very friendly and you can tell that they're passionate about gaming. Make sure to stop by and support them at both of their locations.
