Great place to go hiking! I went on a Wednesday morning, and there was nobody else at the preserve. Hikes are easy to moderate, watch your footing with the many roots protruding in the trail. Trails are well marked and easy to follow. Don't blink or you might miss the turn off into the preserve. I used Google Earth street view to show me some landmarks to watch for when approaching the turnoff.

Great place for a hike. About 3 miles round trip. Took our 4 year old son and my husband's 70 year old grandmother. Both were able to hike it relatively well (although she's in above average shape for her age). Beautiful scenery and nice weather. A lot of ups and downs and creek crossings.

Shoals Creek Preserve is a magical place that everyone in the Quad cities should visit at least once.

The atmosphere is amazing from the sounds, the smells and feeling you get while being there truly makes the mantra of "Stay Wild" really hit home!

It's always been one of my best places to visit whenever I need to unwind and clear my head.

From bike riding, horseback to just a great hike. Shoals Creek Preserve has it covered!

Really nice little place. 3/4 mile gravel road was pretty rough but my little Nissan made it through. The trails are well-marked. There is a map in the kiosk at the parking lot. The forest is pretty young but there is a great diversity of flora. The falls are modest, but nice. There are a few benches around, including one right down by the water. Apparently you can ride a mountain bike here, but there are some pretty big roots.

Once you finally find the place you will most likely have it all to yourself or with few passerby’s. It’s a well marked and maintained trail and you’ll find that the waterfalls are just around every corner. Great spots to see the water and just relax. My friend and I both brought our dogs and we spent about 3 hours hiking here. Bring lots of water and don’t rush thru it. It’s beautiful and deserves to be seen!
