UPDATED: This establishment’s response should show who they truly are. Please also keep in mind that this beer fest that we attended actually included a Skeleton Key booth where their representatives were more than happy to continue to serve us. Interesting… I suggest as a business, it may not be worth participating in these events to advertise your beers for sampling if you don’t want people to visit your establishment to consume more than one beer and spend money.

We are more than happy to not return here. Multiple people this day had the same experience from the same bartender. It sounds like these bartenders are welcome to go on power trips and be blindly backed by the owners. Mind you, the shuffle board table being taken over by 4-5 grown men who were severely intoxicated remained being served after we left. It is also not appreciated to speak down to me to suggest I have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. I appreciate the consideration of “looking inward” and hoping that today would be a new day, but I have just become more comfortable with not supporting this establishment further.

Also, the person who I was with whose order was comped did NOT apologize for the behavior, just demanded a refund for full beers that were poured while also being asked to leave. It was your husband who was profusely apologizing, which felt more appropriate. It seems he is also having to blindly support these decision makers. I am happy our order got refunded as I do not want any of my money going to these specific owners. These are people who want to claim they are thinking about “safety” but were happy to ask a single female who was (in their eyes) intoxicated to leave alone but were happy to keep her friends and drivers there to continue to purchase alcohol. In the owners words “I’m sorry, I’m not asking for you to leave. I’m asking her to leave.”

What a disappointment!!!! We went to this brewery after a beer fest at Hollywood Boulevard and after one beer, we were cut off. The older bartender, upon ordering a beer, maybe 65 years old with a Batman logo shirt, gave me a glass of water to drink and I was then told by a different person that I was cut off. I was not inebriated or aggressive by any means, so confused on why I was cut off. Whats the point of going to a brewery if you’re told you can no longer stay after ordering one beer?

There was a group of older men playing shuffleboard that was getting rowdy and yelled at by the same older bartender, so not sure if this was an instance of misplaced emotion. What a shame. Such a nice brewery and it’s a shame that this instance id what will prevent us from ever coming back.

Other visitors had the same experience on the same day, which is so disappointing. This was not the same experience I had in the past or the experience I was expecting. The fact that was told that the cops are going to be called if I stuck around is truly strange after being served one beer.

Such a scattered establishment and clearly no understanding of the staff being on the same page. This older bartender clearly runs the show and dictates who makes the decisions. Confusion on who the real owner is.

I’ll never be back. What a weird place. Suggest going to Black Horizon Brewing which is only a few minutes away.

We came here at Skeleton Key Brewery for an anniversary event of Realty One Group Ethos. They collaborated with them and made a pretty delicious customized beer for the company called One Key Many Doors! We also tried other beers and we're amazed! Well according to Google Maps I'm part of the 10% of brewery reviewer (we had a brewery grand tour around Chicago's top breweries, and Illinois. So I pretty know what I'm talking about 😊.) Skeleton Key Brewery is in my number 1! Top list! Cleanliness of the place, spacious, cool patio, great tasting beers, nice friendly staff. There's huge Parking area free and available around the brewery. They also have different food trucks outside that serves Tamales, Tacos, Steaks etc. We will definitely come back. Now, I know where to go if I wanted to collaborate or customized my event with a brewery.

Great spot with the nicest bartenders and clientele. Diverse beer selection, and we always end up taking a 4 pack home. Also they have a family room for kids which is a nice options for the little ones in tow.

What an awesome place to go and enjoy a cold beer. The owners are such great people and very friendly.
They immediately make you feel like a regular customer, even if it's your first time. They run it like an old Ma & Pa establishment.
They take their time to really get to know their customers.
I just can't believe it took me so long to go and check this gem out.
From the outside it looks very small, but once you enter and walk towards the back by the bar, you're like wow!! It's a big place.
I'm definitely going to become a regular patron at this wonderful establishment.
Update 04/30/2022
As everyone knows that Skeleton key was devastated by a tornado in June of 2021 and forced them to close for reconstruction.
Well... great news!!! they are finally open once again.
The original section is now fully operational and remodeled, the bar was also extended to accommodate more patrons.
So come on by and enjoy their delicious beers.
I really like the way they opened up the place by putting a half wall with glass windows, looking good.
I can't wait to see the new section and the outside patio open.
Update 06/12/2022
The new section is finally open and it looks pretty much the same as before the tornado hit this place.
They still have no patio.

For the IPA craft beer fans this is a great place to enjoy aromas like malty October Fest ! For the Pilsner aficionados is no surprise here because what sells os hops. The music and in between sets story-telling by Paul Anelka Trio made the outing truly special. Dominating flavors for light beers was sour and citrus with not much distinctive variety from one to another, yet palette friendly. A choice of bagged pretzels is offered as well as discretionary tap water.
The menu was scan only and not easy to use.

Really dug this place. The vibes of all the different spaces in which to enjoy a beer are quite good. The beer selection is top notch. Dogs are not allowed for a very good reason. Definitely accessible by bike. Either Downers Grove Metra Station to any major north/south street to 75th then to Lemont Rd.
