We’ve been Escapee’s members for 2 years but never visited a park. This one is amazing. Everyone is so nice and the sites are beautifully nestled into the rolling hills.

This is a welcome stop for us for laundry and relaxing after 2 weeks of winter camping in nearby Yosemite National Park. Highly recommended. A single stay is worth the price of joining.

And we were welcomed by a rainbow!

We were accused of leaving our space cluttered. We did not. We took photos before and after and it was cleaner than when we arrived. The manager (John) also accused us of breaking rules regarding kids. We did not. We had 3 grandkids stay overnight one at a time over a week or so which is acceptable within their policies and rules. All was good when we paid and left and we were invited back after 30 days. When I called back the manager began to falsely accuse us of things we did not do. My wife overheard the conversation and called him out on his lies. A year later I saw an ad for a manager there, and assuming John was gone, I called back. I spoke with Casey and explained everything that happened with complete honesty and transparency. She spoke to the board president on my behalf and we were reinstated. Then I called for a reservation and was told I had to renew my membership before a reservation could be made. I did that and called back to again try to make a reservation and was told they were full and to call back later. A total of 3 times I called, no reservation made and was told each time they were just full. Today I called only to see if there were any cancellations or openings with plans to at least dry camp a week which doesn’t require a reservation and was told I wasn’t going to be eligible to stay there. I was politely hung up on. I called back hoping to get a reasonable explanation. The first thing she said was she talked to other members about us (another lie) but when I called back I was told it was regarding the situation from last year. These people are dishonest. We did nothing to deserve the way we were treated.

A little consideration goes a long way. We called to make a reservation with this Escapee RV Park for Sunday night. A woman asked if we stayed here before and the answer was no. This would have been the best time for them to say,

"You will need to arrive at 11:30 am or you'll be stuck on the other side of a code-entry security gate with no electricity in the intense summer heat!"

Instead of giving us this highly relevant information about their RV Park, the woman gathered our information and then discussed how her fingers weren't doing what she wanted them to do. Each Escapee RV Park operates differently - most don't have gates, some don't take reservations, some have electrical hook-ups for boon-dockers. It's all over the place so if they had a specific arrival time and knew we would be stuck at a gate - why not tell us what to expect? I managed to slip in a phone call with poor cell reception stating that we were stranded and I was not happy about the way we were treated. The next day, a not-so-great lady leaves a wretched defensive voicemail indicating they called us several times (at the last minute) and we did not pick up the phone (because we had no reception - this is what happens when an RV Park waits until the last minute to give you highly important arrival information....). There were no apologies. With that said, here's what happened to us on the evening they left us stranded with no apology or consideration for what we went through.

We arrived around 2:30 pm. The turn to get into the RV Park is off a busy highway so we encountered fast approaching cars around a blind curve and needed to drive onto a steep-ish downward sloped road with a slow moving, 34-foot fifth wheel. As soon as we turned in, there was a gate with a code so we could not proceed any further and were essentially stuck between the highway and this gate. We checked our "reservation" for a gate code but there was no mention of a gate or code. But there was a fine print - an afterthought on the reservation email never communicated to us - arrive at 11:30 am or boondock in the intense summer heat until they re-open.

Six hours of driving, over $300 in diesel gas, an entire day down the drain and we arrived to a locked gate with no way of entering because no one told us what to expect upon arrival. Can you imagine? It is vital that each Escapee park indicates how they operate to their guests at the time the reservation is made. No excuses.

They have a single boondocking spot near their gate which also happens to be the ONLY turn around spot. If someone was already there, we would have been stuck backing a 34-foot fifth wheel uphill into fast moving highway traffic that is coming around a blind curve. There are no words to describe how I feel about them putting us in this kind of predicament.

Not knowing anything about the area, we routed to the nearest shopping center to re-fuel and re-think where we were going to go as we needed to get out of the mountains before dark. On our way to the shopping center, a car cut us off and my husband slammed on the brakes on a steep downgrade. All four of the $2,000 brakes we JUST HAD REPLACED began smoking. Fortunately, we were able to park before any of our belongings caught on fire. We waited an hour for the brakes to cool down before driving another 6 hours to get to safety.

And lastly, to the woman who left the wretched voicemail the
next day with no apology - whose responsibility was it to tell us how your RV Park worked, to indicate what time we should arrive, to let us know there would be a locked gate, to tell us what to do if we arrived to a locked gate? Calling us at the very last minute on the day of our arrival to tell us you are locking your gate in 30 minutes and then blaming us for not picking up the phone while we're traveling through mountains with no cell phone reception is a really lousy thing to do. At the very least, you could have left a note on the gate for us when you were unable to connect at the last minute. We received no consideration.

Lovely park. Nice shade trees everywhere. Wonderfully kept grounds all done by the people in the co-op. Large rec center with freshly remodeled billiard room, library, workout equipment and more. Mostly 55+, many permanent tenants and everyone we met here was SO NICE!!! Amazing hospitality. We hope to come back one day.

I loved staying here. The sites are beautiful. The people are friendly and inviting. While here I attended the ice cream social on Sunday, Line Dancing, dinner out at China Delight, played hand & foot, attended a movie with chili dog dinner, Bingo!!! Love Bingo always. We were at the dog park daily. I was only here for a week and it was hard to leave but I'll be back for yet another vacation! While here I also attended a play at the Gold Chain Theater and loved it.
