Talon Air Service provided a trip of a lifetime! I have no words for how truly amazing this fly in bear viewing/fishing excursion was. Absolutely breathtaking. Could not have asked for better weather, the most perfect bears, and beautiful fillets (33lbs) of salmon we went home with. Our guide, Jason, was personable and knowledgeable of the area and was not only accommodating to my senior mother (helping in and out of boat and aircraft) but also patiently coached us on how to get fish on and before we knew it we were at our limits! The owner/operator/pilot Alan, gave us Spectacular mountain and glacial views that opened up to the most magnificent turquoise blue lake with smooth take offs and landings. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this bucket list trip!

If you are looking for an exceptional excursion in Alaska, this is the place. This was the highlight of our eight week trip to Alaska. The float plane ride over to Clark National Park was very cool. If you are booking the salmon fishing trip, definitely ask for Tyler as your guide. He put us on fish, in a secluded location away from the crowd. He was patient with my non-fishing wife and had her catching fish and we all limited out in under two hours. This left us with a lot of time for bear viewing. We ended up seeing more than ten grizzlies with cubs, so cool. Had one younger bear swim within 10 feet of our boat. The icing on the cake was the flight back to Soldatna made a fly over of one of the mountain glaciers. These guys are highly recommended!

This adventure was the highlight of our entire trip of 3 weeks to Alaska. We did this 6 years ago and thoroughly loved it then. Nate was our guide and he was a decent fisherman, but he was a damn fine cook! We were fortunate the weather was exceptional and the flight was breathtaking. Bear viewing, salmon fishing, sight seeing around the lake, and glacier viewing! Lots of bang for your buck. Would do again!

A truly amazing experience. The float plane flight took us low over the glacier before landing on the pristine lake. Our guide Morgan was incredible found us everything we were hoping for plenty of fish and bears. He was really patient with our trio of novice fisherman. He even filleted the fish on the boat whipped out a little grill and a box of spices and grilled the fish on the boat. The bear viewing exceeded any expectations we had. Realized you can get so much closer to them via water. One of our best experiences in a most epic trip to Alaska.

Amazing experience fishing for salmon at Big River Lakes and watching tons of brown bears at Wolverine Creek. This is a highly exceptional team of folks; office staff, customer service, dock hands, pilots, and fishing guides. Everyone was superb and contributed to making this such a spectacular experience! It’s hard to think of another activity that’s more ALASKAN than this. Blessed for the best day ever. Thank you Talon Air! 10/10 would recommend!

We took a bear viewing / salmon fishing trip to Crescent Lake and had a great experience. Guide Bill was truly top notch- highly knowledgeable of the area, skilled fishing coach, and sought to meet the desires of everyone in the group.
Two things I hope Talon will consider for future operations:
(1) Provide hearing protection for the flight. We’ve had experience with a multitude of local charters and didn’t think to bring earplugs or a headset, confident they’d be provided. Even a 30 minute flight in the beaver was enough to leave our ears ringing.
(2) Hip waders they provided my Dad leaked to the extent he had a leg full of (frigid) water. I get that equipment ages, but I’d expect them to preflight gear better—or at least have customers do so on site before departure.

The best in the business!! I have taken a group of women with this air service / guide service twice now. We were lucky enough to have Allen as our Talon pilot and I can’t recommend him enough! We have also fished with Kyle during both of our visits. He is so knowledgeable and patient with us girls! We have had two incredible trips over the past two years and we can’t wait to come back and do it again! If you are considered a bear viewing or fly out fishing trip, this is the place to book through!
