Fantastic stay! Spur of the moment trip and found this online. Booked based on the reviews. Extraordinariky affordable. Amazing location, wonderfully unique, beautiful historical area and although very old, has been kept in wonderful shape. Walked quite a bit the next morning. Strangely not much open for coffee or breakfast nearby but we stumbled on an amazing place - Sausalito Bakery and Cafe!

This is a little bit of heaven! The Gables were amazing. Very European. Watched the Blue Angels. Staff is wonderful please listen to their recommendations as they are spot on! Can’t wait to go back again.

Charming, well-located inn with a lot of character. We stayed in an apartment and it was plenty of space for our family of four, with the bay views a lovely bonus. In retrospect I would have accepted their offer to make up the sofa bed because the daybed in the second bedroom was a tight squeeze for two kids to share.

Stayed here for two (2) nights. The hotel location is just perfect and is walking distance to most everything in Sausalito. The hotel is a super cute antique beach house turned into a boutique hotel - perfect for a quiet beach town stay. The room itself (we booked the most basic room) was quite small but clean, and cozy. The bed was very comfortable for sleeping, but not so much for other things as a result of the noisy bedframe and close proximity of other guest rooms... The bathroom had a bathtub with jets - this was lovely! The parking situation ($30 per night) is a bit annoying but this is not a reflection of the hotel as parking is a bit of an annoyance in general in Sausalito as a whole. The hotel has a main lot in front with about 6 parking spaces, and once full guests are directed to the back lot (also right next to the hotel). Once those lots are full, they will direct you to sister lots (also within walking distance but further away). So overall, there is lots of parking either way and parking is the same price - it is merely a matter of convivence.
Staff was super friendly and helpful.
We would definitely stay here again.

-There was a bug under the covers of the bed when I first removed the covers after arriving. The front desk attendant admitted that many different kinds of bugs get in to the hotel
- Unprofessional and rude front desk attendant (short male with slicked back long grey/blonde hair): After I reported the bug problem, he did not apologize for the problem, did not offer a refund, and yelled at me when I was speaking to him. He also was absent from the front desk upon arrival for about 15 minutes.
- White stains on the cushion in the bathroom lobby: one can only guess what those stains are from.
- Conclusion: my vacation was ruined.

We stayed here for two nights during our last road trip. Despite being a very small, basic room, it suited our needs. We didn't want to chance driving into San Francisco, so we paid an extra $25.00 per night to leave our car in the Gables parking lot and take the ferry over. The Gables is centrally located, and only two blocks from the ferry dock. We caught the hop on/hop off bus in SFO and were able to easily see the city before catching the ferry back. We were in cottage #208, which had a nice balcony with a peekaboo view of the bay and distant city. The view was the main selling point as the room lacked a heater, the windows wouldn't open, and there was no fridge. The staff were accommodating and nice. The room was clean. Sausalito is a cute little town, worth visiting and a great place to stay instead of San Francisco. We enjoyed our visit.
