The ambience was great, we had so much fun here. Couple of things that are true from other reviews, the skates are terrible, hard on your feet but that’s at any public ice rink. I use to go to the Galleria in Houston and it was the same generic skates but they do spray them with disinfectant spray after use, wear thick socks. It is crowded at first but after a bit it starts to clear out. Tickets do have to be bought a head of time. All the stores are outside, surrounding the rink and it was super crowded. There is limited free parking nearby-ish, otherwise there is a parking garage. The lines are super long to the more popular items like the sandwiches, brats and the potato slices on a stick. We ended up just getting the fries which were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Lastly, the little collectors mug seem like mass produced, most stands had them but didn’t stop me from buying 3 for my kids, $6/each. Over all, my kids loved the experience and so far their favorite part of the trip so if I had to weigh the pros against the cons i would definitely come back and do this. Also, be prepared to over pay on a lot of items.

I’d like to say that our experience was fun, but it truly was not. There was way too many people that were allowed on the ice. We came as a family with small children for a holiday experience and what was offered was insufficient for inexperienced skaters. For the price of a ticket, there should have been better skating options for young children or a lower price point for not providing skating aids.
It’s great for experienced skaters but not family friendly. For this reason, our family won’t be ice skating again at the Ice on Carter Green.

The ice rink itself is a 5 star experience. Being in the middle of the Christmas market is stunning, and the size of the rink is great.

The rental skate are a 0 star experience. My husband and oldest child lasted about 10 minutes before their ankles hurt so bad they had to get off the ice. My middle child only lasted another ten. My youngest and I lasted 45 minutes, and then we threw in the towel. We're on the hunt now for purchasing skates of our own so that we can really enjoy skating next time.

Ambiance, location, and available free parking can’t be beat. But come on weekday/night because when all tickets are sold , the small rink is much too crowded. The Zamboni doesn’t seem to be used enough, as we got on the ice on a Friday night at the start of the session and the ice wasn’t smooth.

I love this feature of Carmel’s Christkindl Market, but either lower skating costs or maintain a higher skating experience, please.

I purchased tickets in advance, as recommended by The Ice at Carter Green. I live out of state and was in town for the weekend to take my grandchildren ice skating. On the day and time of our ice skating reservation, it was pouring down rain. Because this is an outdoor rink, I called to inquire if I could get a refund and was told no because they had not canceled the session. They offered me a chance to reschedule at another time however I explained I did not live in town and therefore would not be able to reschedule. I asked if they could hold the monies and I’ll have the parents call to reschedule when they could bring the children back. I was told that is not an option. Because of this, I forfeited my money and was left with a poor experience. From a customer service standpoint, The Ice at Carter Green has some opportunities. I recommend using an indoor ice skating rink to ensure an optimal experience if you are reserving tickets in advance.
