Edit: After now coming to this location multiple times I feel the need to add on how great the employees are! Each time I’ve gone in they have all been so helpful and polite; especially one named Michael I believe was his name; he gave us the entire run down for MTG so enthusiastically it literally got us into the card game officially. 🙂

Original review: Wonderful little hobby and card game shop. Think of Firefly but smaller and more familiar. Polite staff and informative.

My kids love this store. The people who work there are always so patient with them while they pick out Pokémon cards. They have a really good selection of Pokémon card singles. Some rare and desirable ones on display up front, and they have a larger inventory in the back. They price their cards based on TCGplayer.

There’s always events and tournaments going on there for other card games and board games too. Lots of tables for people to play. It’s just a friendly, fun place to go.

By far one of the best TCG/gaming stores I’ve ever been to! They have a great selection of Pokemon cards, games, items etc. and an amazing inventory for every fandom pretty much. Bonus is they have a coffee bar and the coffee we got was delicious. Katie was awesome, very friendly and super helpful! Highly highly recommend checking this place out. Also super clean!

Very decent card shop(though not as big as other shops), they still get a great crowd for almost every tabletop game you can think of. They hold yugioh tournaments, pokemon, magic, DragonBall, one-piece, and many other tcg events. Fair price for trade-ins. They sell cards for almost every card game, whatever gets traded in. They have a fair selection of tabletop games for sale or demo. They sell warhammer figures and paint. They have a vast variety of items to potentially purchase for board games as well. Their coffee bar isn't that bad either, many tasty drinks, and they make what you want, from the items they have in stock, fairly inexpensive to. They just redid their store it will surprise you when you see it, new floors and they moved all tables and shelves. They're still changing. They're now getting custom wooden tables, which look fantastic and very sleek, but they're not so wheelchair friendly, had an acquaintance show up to play, and they weren't really able to pull up close to the tables.

Came into the store for my first time yesterday, and was helped by Catherine. I had several questions about Lorcana, and she was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. I will definitely be back for repeat business and refer all of my friends to this store for their trading card game needs. They also had plenty of inventory at more than fair prices.

I have enjoyed coming to The Side Deck for about a year on my lunch break to grab a coffee and browse cards. I went in on Friday and was wanting to pick up one card and found that the entire card inventory was moved to an offsite location and was asked to come back at 6pm to pick up a 1.00 card. The store is located on 378 in Lexington. That road is a mess from about 4:30 to 7:30pm. As a customer, I find that removing the bulk inventory from the store is a huge mistake. The ease of being able to eat lunch, come by and put in a card order, grab a coffee while the order is pulled is what brought me in. In the meantime I walked around the store and have purchased things while there such as Deck boxes, playmats and dice. The bulk cards in store is a great way to get customers through the door. I used to prefer Side Deck over Firefly, but it looks like I only have one place to go now on my lunch breaks. Unfortunate.

My experience was okay; I am airing on the side of a generous rating to support the store. I was told there was a 25% bonus for store credit on cards sold to the store for Black Friday. The store was going to give me $12 for a LP Nykthos though. That is 35% of market value with the added bonus. That is a pretty hilariously bad rate.

The employees were nice! Ultimately just alright.

Edit per the owner's response: I did not sell the Nykthos to the store because of the rate-- hence missing in inventory. I was quoted a price from an employee after already discussing the Black Friday rate. The buylist also quoted the card at $12.01. I decided not to sell.

The experience was fine and anyone reading this should enjoy the store and the card sale prices at least.
