I have loved this store since before the Gaming Goose days, but I am super disappointed in the policy they recently implemented essentially gatekeeping the new Pokémon set.
In order to purchase one of the new packs at $10, they required a $100 purchase in other store merchandise. If buying the Elite Trainer Box, I was told that a $900 purchase of other merchandise would be required before being “eligible” to purchase the box. I thought I understood the policy wrong, but an employee at another store confirmed.
I realize that popular items can be sold out quickly and demand is high for new packs, but putting a Pokémon set behind a $900 paywall feels like price gouging. There are other, more ethical ways to handle demand like this and it is beyond disappointing that someone dreamed up and approved this plan.
I’ll be looking for fun in one of the many other gaming stores around town from here forward.

Extremely disappointed with this shop. My husband and I have been coming here for a couple months and yesterday we decided to stop by in hopes to get the new pokemon cards. We wanted to support a smaller shop/business instead of waiting at target or Walmart for the cards. It’s honestly so ridiculous and insane that you had to buy at least $100 of other store merchandise in order to be able to buy a $10 pack. $900 in order to be “eligible” for an ETB which to me doesn’t even sound like a guarantee. Trying to use this as an opportunity to incentivize your loyal customers just doesn’t sit right with me especially when it’s just making everyone turn to other stores instead. You’re better off going to fair game in Geneva and Danes Games for preorders!! They’re the best and actual care about their customers that love the hobby.

This store opened up in town the same year I got into the gaming hobby and it's been a wonderful experience watching the store grow along with my own interest in the hobby over the years. This is truly the best game store in the community (and there are several - all good, but TFIS is amazing). From its beginnings as a small, hole-in-the-wall franchise game store to its newer, independently owned, great location, the store has always had incredible staff, amazing selection, and a dedication to the gaming and general community that goes above and beyond!

Over the years I've been running a game night there that started out once-a-month and then grew to weekly (before Covid anyway). They also let me host game design nights and have even been supportive of game nights I've held at other locations, like other local businesses, churches, and outdoor events. I've been to the store for tournaments, trick-or-treating, and have even held Cub Scout meetings at the store!

Each year I partner with the store to run a big charity event to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, running a board game auction and a 24 hour gaming marathon. We also have a donation jar in the store year-round. Between the support of the store (both financially and logistically) and the local community we've raised thousands of dollars for charity! That wouldn't be possible without all the enthusiastic support from this store and the staff.

The store also does a ton of other community support events. Back when group gatherings were allowed they were always there, playing games with kids, giving out prizes and even gift cards, and more. They organize Pokemon events at the local library, hold events at a local historic theater, and more. When Pokemon Go was a crazy fad they extended their hours just to have water and an open location for late-night hunters to have a place to stop, often into the wee hours of the morning. They've even handed out popsicles at the end of a parade, just because it was hot out!

Without a doubt, There's Fun In Store is an amazing part of this community. And what's doubly amazing is that they manage to do all of this (and probably a ton more that I'm not aware of) while keeping prices competitive, especially on board games, cards, and accessories. If that means some exclusive items, collectibles, and rare items are a little more than I could find if I scoured the internet looking for a deal or waiting for a sale, I'm fine with that. I know my money is going to a whole lot more than just lining a rich executive's pockets.

Thank you to Phil, Emily, and all the amazing staff for all you do!

They have nice stuff, but the store does a disservice to the customers. When buying board games or tabletop games, you pay high prices to play at the store you buy from. There is no reason to buy from here, none at all. If I were to buy warhammer, MTG, Pokémon, or any other game, I’d have to find a different store to play at. Why not just buy at that other store that actually offers the opportunity to play such games. I heard that this place was once a wonderful place to play warhammer and mtg, but now all they do is sell the stuff and not offer a place to play. Don’t support a business that can’t even practice what they sell. Don’t support a business that doesn’t want its customers to actually use the products they buy. Don’t support a GAME store that doesn’t care enough to host games. Please start caring again. Please put some effort in.

Like its name, there is fun in store! I always enjoy coming here to just browse the games or buy a new plushie. They have decent prices although their board games run on the more expensive side. (You can find a given game online for a bit less). Overall I still do have fun every time I go here! They also have quite a few reversible plushies which is fun!

Very dissatisfying when I reach out to a local shop ( my parents live right near the shop ) and they tell me in order for Me to buy the new Pokémon set I need to spend pretty much 1000$ and still after that price I’ll be getting the product at a mark up … just over all didn’t expect it from these guys’ - never going back

I am unlike some others.. and have found the products I want to be fairly priced. I'm sure there's markup bc it's a business, but I've been pleasantly surprised.
That being said.. this store was one of the only stores that chose to not sell water during corn fest. They gave it away. I would gladly patronize this store over others based on that fact alone. I've had nothing but friendly interactions with the staff as well.
