This place is a gem in Barrington. My husband and I have done theee rooms with our adult children and spouses. The theatrics are so professional. Highly recommend it!

We have done a number of escape rooms and this venue is one of the best! We will certainly be coming back her to try and beat the rest of the rooms. On this first visit we done the Curse of Captain Scurvy. A potential problematic room where some of the mechanics could fail. Fortunately for us everything went smoothly for us as we tackled each puzzle in the room. We completed the room with around 15mins to spare. I really enjoyed the variety of puzzles the room offered. The staff were fantastic and gave us a tour of the venue with a glimpse of what each of the rooms looked like. The quality of each was a notch above the usual escape room venue. Myself and my team can not wait to go back there to try and conquer another room.

We have done many escape rooms, and this was probably the worst. We did the Pharoah room, and while really cool looking, we were almost immediately turned off when we got a 10 minute lecture about how other people have broken things, the clues they missed and where the events took place. There was no introduction storyline, just "don't break stuff " and "look in that book." It was very dark. We were provided no flash lights or places to put personal belongings (besides lockers far away from the room). Most of the puzzles were linear and not very intuitive. I felt like there was a "special" way to do everything in order to make it work. Sometimes, I'm doing it twice. It was very strange to be told to carry an artifact with two hands in the last few minutes of the game.

I can tell this is likely a passion for the owner. While there were some good ideas, they were not executed well. When giving feedback after the game, they were very defensive to the point where we just walked out.

Also- like others have mentioned, the booking system is strange and outdated.

This place is new to the area, but I have to say it one of the more immersive room experiences we've had. The level of detail in the rooms really adds to the ambiance. The puzzles all make sense- there's no jumping from lock to lock. The puzzles aren't super complex, but they'll definitely get you thinking. These rooms definitely require teamwork, so communication is a must. The staff and the owner really made the experience special. They actively looked for feedback. The hints were at a good level- a nudge in the right direction without giving the puzzle away. The facilities are very clean. We tried dragon spire, undead alley, curse of captain scurvey, and pharaoh's tomb. Be prepared to move around, bend down, and crouch. I wouldn't recommend heels for these rooms. There are lockers provided for valuables. We will be back for the other rooms with a few more people- you need more than 2 played for the wizarding school and the prisoner cell rooms. They did a great use of space. Xscape in time is a great addition to the escape the room selection in the area, and I'm looking forward to what else they're going to do in the future.

SCAM BUSINESS.

Made a reservation for 5:30pm days in advance. We showed up on time and excited. Business was completely shut down and closed, lights off and doors locked, no sign on the door. Google hours said they are open 1-8pm. Called the business several times and no answer. Left voicemail, no call back. Incredibly unprofessional. Place looks super weird and run down too. You have been warned!

EDIT - Amazing that they responded to my review right away but can’t return a call or be open for business at 5pm on a Wednesday with reservations pending. Here’s THE REAL STORY:

I spoke to the owner 2 days prior to the date we wanted to go and inquired about coming with only two people since their website says their is a four person minimum BUT stated I would gladly pay for four people. The owner said that would be no problem at all and was happy to have us. We show up to a shuttered down blacked out building. Very shady business. BE CAREFUL‼️‼️‼️

Easily the best escape room place I've ever been to. The attention to detail and pure beauty of the rooms is truly exceptional. It feels like you're on a Hollywood set. Owner was present who was very attentive and entertaining and other supports staff was excellent as well. Highly recommended!

Went there twice with my friends and it was such a great time ! Our gamemaster was so incredibly nice and funny. The owner is the nicest. Also recommend paying in cash so you get a discount. Will be coming back to play the other rooms soon !
