Visited this museum as part of a family reunion. We rented out the main building. There is a nice kitchen attached for preparing food for events. So many unique cars, trucks, old memorabilia items, and more! We did not get to walk through all the buildings the day we were there (on a weekend), but I've been told they are all worth checking out. So many vintage fire engines that any firefighter would enjoy. It is evident that the owner(s) take great pride in this museum. Everything was spotless and super clean. Maybe not the best place for little children who like to touch and climb on everything.

This place is phenomenal!! There are so many Antique EVERYTHING. mainly vintage cars and Fire trucks. Literally a blast from the past. So much history that's been forgotten has been preserved here by Mr. VanderHaag and associates. Extordinary family who started a simple salvage yard collected and restored hundreds of automobiles from our world history.

John C and Ruth Vanderhaag gave a personal tour. Enjoyed time rubbing elbows with John C Vanderhaag and talking about "How It All Started" at Southside Junkyard.

Lors du retour de notre voyage dans l'ouest Américain nous sommes arrêtés dans cette toute petite ville, Sanborn IA, et quelle surprise nous avons eu en visitant cet extraordinaire musée. On y retourne aux débuts de l'automobile dans les années 1900, c'est magnifique! On y voit non seulement des véhicules antiques mais aussi des véhicules qui ont contribués à bâtir ce grand pays que sont les États Unis d'Amérique. Les véhicules sont parfois dans l'état où ils ont étés acquis et parfois restaurés avec grands soins. Un grand merci à la famille Vander Haag de nous permettre de retourner dans toutes ces époques avec leur collection plus qu'extraordinaire.

On the way back from our trip to the American West we stopped in this very small town, Sanborn IA, and what a surprise we had visiting this extraordinary museum. We go back to the beginnings of the automobile in the 1900s, it’s magnificent! We see not only antique vehicles but also vehicles that helped build this great country that is the United States of America. The vehicles are sometimes in the condition in which they were acquired and sometimes restored with great care. A big thank you to the Vander Haag family for allowing us to return to all these eras with their more than extraordinary collection.

Wonderful place to visit. Several buildings of antique trucks, buses, and many other items. All ages will enjoy. Spend as much time as you like. A great place to rent for a group family gathering or events, with a kitchen and many tables. Lots of space. Can also walk in as individuals on weekdays to see the museum. Scooters and wheelchairs available for those who need it to cover the entire space of the museum. Air-conditioned. Very clean and well -kept. You will enjoy ! We had a 98th birthday party there with family members. They really enjoyed it on a rainy day in August.

This was amazing experiencing the years gone by. Not only the vehicles but there are thousands of other memorabilia from years gone by.
